M&P 9c, FNS 9C, Sig Sauer P320C or Springfield XDS

I would have to totally disagree with anyone saying things bad about the trigger on the Sig 320 . It is THE best trigger compared to the Smiths . I had it in 9mm subcompact . Then did the X-Change kit from Sig (comes right to your door step ) and converted to compact frame in 357sig . It is deadly accurate with THE best trigger , even compared to the 2 M&P's that I have . The one MP is box stock , the other has the apex kit . The kit made it a real nice trigger but not surpassing Sig standards. This has been my experience with the 2 different makes . I have 3 sigs , will buy more . My fiancée has an HK VP in 9mm . There is a real fine choice as well , but the OP did not ask about HK .

Kind of hard to choose a gun that serves those two purposes. My HD gun is the M&P 45 and my carry piece is the shield in 9mm. I think the M&P9c might be the best option another alternative is the g19 or 26
I hate the XDS had two in 9mm and 45 flawless guns never had any issues with any but the grip is too aggressive, painful to shot, trigger is awful too kinda of mushy.. Never had a FNS, sig p320 too bulky and heavy to carry,

Have to agree with the XDs being painful to shoot. It sat in the safe due to this. Had the opportunity to trade straight across for a Sig P320 and did so and haven't looked back. I have a 40C that I converted to 9mm and has been 100% reliable. However, the trigger really sucks compared to the p320.
I'm slowly becoming a "trigger snob" after shooting 1911's and my PPQ's. After shooting those I finally realized how bad stock M&P triggers are.

Had the M&P 9c but never could get used to the trigger even with the Apex system installed. However, it is still a fine gun. Have the FNS 9c and I'm thinking of selling my Glock 26 because I like it better. The Sig P320C is also a fine gun. The XDs is a single stack gun so it's really not in the same category as the others. It's in line with the Shield line of guns.

For me, as a lefty, I would go with the M&P. I would never carry an XD because of the grip safety, the Sigs I've handled were not southpaw friendly, and I don't care for their high bore. I've heard that the FN line is a little more left side compatable, but don't have any experience with them.

You can't go wrong with either one but I would pick the Sig over the M&P. I've shot both and did better with the Sig, mostly thanks to the trigger. The Sig is also easier to field strip and customize. Only downside is that the magazines are going to cost you.

You didn't include the Glock 19 or 26 in your options but I would seriously consider those too.

If a P320C is too big, the P320SC is a bit smaller and has the same capacity as the M&P.

I own M&P FS in 9mm and have added all apex parts to include the barrel. Amazing accuracy. I have a 45 and 9mm Shield as well. However, my Sig P320 Compact is still the most accurate striker fire pistol out of the box. I carry mine concealed in a Clinger Holster with no issues or discomfort. I have a subcompact exchange kit, that I took a compact grip module and modified it to fit. It's not much bigger that my Shield 9mm. Bottom line they are all great pistols.
I took a picture of my P320 Compact compared to my Shield 45 and my P320 Subcompact slide on a compact grip in comparison to my Shield 9mm.

I have an M&P 9c, an XD9 (service w/ 4" barrel) and a Glock 17. The XD9 and the Glock 17 have trigger modifications to reduce the pull and are quite comfortable. When I bought my new M&P 9c, the trigger pull seemed heavy when dry-firing but lighter when live-firing. I understand the newer M&P 9 FS and M&P 9c triggers are smoother with a crisper "break", and I believe it. Within a hundred rounds my 9c's trigger pull reduced quite a bit and the reset is quick and crisp. I was pleasantly surprised that the trigger pull is now, after about 300 rounds, less than the Glock and equal to the XD9 with the PRP trigger kit. I didn't measure the actual pull and my rating is purely subjective; however, the M&P 9c is actually my favorite gun for the range and EDC. It is accurate and the trigger is great. Yes, it is chunky with the double-stack magazine/grip but with the pinky extension on the bottom of the stock 12-round mag, it is quite comfortable. I also carry the full-size mag with 17 rounds as backup (the X-Grip makes it very comfortable).
Just my two cents. Try all three, the M&P, SIG and XD at a range if you can. Holding it at the gun shop is not the same as firing it.

Well I went ahead and picked up the Sig Sauer P320C. I got it from a friend's gun shop. It came with night sights and he threw in a laser for the rail. Can't wait to go shoot it. Will post an update when I fire it for the first time. Thanks for all of the replies.
