yeah, its the noob again. have a question regarding night sights. I have seen them in low profile like whats on the stock gun, and I have also seen them as normal looking, like on my glocks. I currently have 3 different kinds on my glocks, one has Mepros, one has Trijicons, and one has Glock Night sights. What type would you all recommend(low profile or not), what brand do you prefer, and where have you found the best prices? The one set I bought online was from Optics Planet which had the best prices on Glock sights. Thanks again from the M&P noobie!

By far the best deal is to buy them installed from the factory, so you are NOT buying 2 sets of sights to get the one you want.
I like low profile sights on a compact carry gun. ( have a 5" 9 Pro with FO sights for range and competitiion use)
Anything out to 7 yds, I'm not going to be looking at the sights anyway in a hurry-up defense shooting. I practice point shooting regularly, and it is very fast and effective, once you learn it. I don't stand and shoot groups with my carry gun, but do quick action drills against IDPA targets. Time to first hit is more important than a good group later, IMHO.

I have a full size M&P9 and had a set of TFO sights installed yesterday. I looked at the Trijicon & the Meprolight sights but went with the Tru-Glo Tritium fiber optic sights instead. They look good and are very bright.

The TFO's work really well and are pretty close to the height of factory available S&W and Glock night sights. In terms of aftermarket,(some places sell all as a package) I like my Trijicons, MEPROs are pretty good too, but money allowing, I opt for Truglo TFOs

If you want something lower profile, it can be bought, but as with anything, especially pistols, there are typically performance tradeoffs when you go down in size. I have some subcompacts for C&C purposes but I realize their, and my own limitations.

It's a balance of weight vs recoil, how it feels and works (ergonomics) and how fast I can visually sight a target that I consider when buying a handgun, regardless of size. For instance, the S&W 380 Bodyguard is one of few pocket pistols I'd care to put a 100 rounds thru and it has probably the best standard sights of the bunch. Sure you can buy a decent gun that's few ounces lighter, but it'll beat the bejesus out of your hand before very long.

I have a new set of TFO's I'm gonna have installed on my S&W M&Pc. I had them on my Glock 26 and now that I've found a gun that fits my hand I want the same highly visible sights on my constant companion!
