I finally made my decision. After shooting with a buddy of mine today at a local indoor range, I headed over to the store offering 'no sales tax' on any firearm purchased by 12/31/2010. I paid $599 out the door. It's a beaut, too! :D
I looked at the 4.25" M&P 9 (again w/ Trijicon sights) for $559.00. And, I looked at the Glock 19. The grip just wasn't really to my liking. I also checked out the CZ SP-01 Phantom. Very nice. However; the grip feels much like the Ruger SR-9 in my hand - a bit narrower than I prefer.
The M&P 9L has the 5" barrel. And, I had really been looking at 3.8" to 4.25" barrel guns. But, the 9L just felt great! I really like the M&P grip! And, of course, it comes with 2 more backstraps. And, the 9L I purchased includes 3 mags.
The Trijicon sights really got my attention, though. When shooting today, I was shooting my friends Beretta 92FS (alloy). And, I must say, it felt real nice. And, was great to shoot! But, the painted sights just were not that visible to me. But, I could see all three dots. These Tritium Trijicon sights should be wonderful. And, after getting the gun home, I put some light on the gun for a few minutes, and then went into the bathroom with no lights on. Nice!! They do glow!
Earlier this morning, I was (again) reading more reviews, and happened onto a site showing the Trijicon sights.
I think I made a pretty good purchase. Here are a few photos... (taken w/ my iPhone in low light)

You don't need to "charge" tritium based nights sights, that won't accomplish anything. Just don't eat the radioactive (mildly) capsules!

Lol! I knew that, too! Just forgot. Not long ago, I owned a Ball Watch. That watchmaker uses tritium gas tubes in all of their timepieces. Traser, & Luminox are two other watchmakers that use similar tritium gas tubes on some of their watches, as well.
These companies advertise the life of the gas tubes to be 25 years. And, I guess, that is also true with Trijicon. They warranty the night sights for, I believe, 12 years.
