I have a M&P full size 9mm which will be my only handgun for a while. I bought the gun about a year ago. While I like my M&P, I do not like the trigger nor the sights. I could use some help with my 2 choices.
1) Send it to Apex (i'm not a do-it-yourselfer) and they will install a fss trigger and ameriglo sights.
2) trade my gun in for a new m&p 9mm pro core (better trigger, better sights?)
Any thoughts?
Which decision will produce the better gun?
Thanks.

The pro core has tall sights and really is designed for an optic. My girlfriend has one without an optic and sent the gun to Dawson Precision for a custom made rear sight with a red glow front sight. I also installed an Apex kit and the trigger is very smooth. I have a standard m&p fs 9, and difference in trigger smoothness is easy to detect. Dawson did a great job with the custom sight.

If you are not planning on adding an optic (red dot, rmr. Etc), get the Pro non-core model.

I was in the same boat as you about a year ago. I has a M&P 9 FS. The trigger was terrible. I traded it off for another gun cause I did not want to dump $300 into it for night sights and trigger. I just ordered a Pro Series the other day. $575 out the door. It has better trigger and night sights.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that my gun is used for range time, fun in the backyard, and home defense if needed.
Thanks again..

I have the fs Pro (no optics) and love it, I also have the 9c and while the trigger is not as nice, it's not bad. I may toy with the idea of an APEX trigger for the 9c. The pro has night sights and the 9c has a laser. I don't really see the need to do anything else.

Sure you're not a DIYer? With the help of the internet and a few videos the APEX install is pretty simple. I used simple tools and a penny/vice was the hardest part to remove the rear sight. The Apex kit makes a night and day difference.

totally right! my M&P is my first handgun and i was able to install the Apex striker block kit in 15 minutes.
all i needed was a vise and brass punch.
i'm planning on installing the rear sear/spring soon.

If I were you I would keep it & make a few mods. As far as sights go see if this tickles your fancy 10-8 performance M&P sights - YouTube,

Just about any factory gun will benefit from a trigger job but especially so with the M&P's. Apex kit is pretty simple to install, but...it sounds like money may not be a road block for you. If that is the case, and you have access to a CORE, and plan to buy a holo/red-dot for it---no brainer. Do it, assuming it's just gonna be a fun gun. CCW with an optic is not an option for many. Shooting with an optic is an awesome enhancement to the experience, IMO

That being said, you will probably be quite happy with your FS 9 after getting a new trigger/sight job! So I guess I wasn't much help after all:o
