M&P 9mm in 5" length expectations?

I somehow seem to bounce around on 9mm guns, have had a few.........SIG P226, SIG P320, Walther PPQ M2 5", Beretta 92Fs, and CZ 75B Omega.
As you can see I have not had an M&P yet! LOL So I am wondering for those that have or have owned the 5" model and I am looking at the new 2.0 in Flat Dark Earth what you liked, didn't like and what upgrade if any you might suggest. How is your accuracy?
I do own a 45 Shield that I installed the Apex sear in and the gun has been fabulous for me thus the interest in the M&P 2.0

Any thoughts or input to share is appreciated.....thanks

Welll.. I snagged the 5" FDE 9mm this morning since my LGS cut me a deal AND the rebate is still out. I'm just as curious as you are to see other's opinions..

I don't think you should expect better accuracy from a longer barrel -- although the slightly longer sight radius can make it a bit easier to shoot well. Barrel length has little to do with accuracy, and just a little to do with improved performance (i.e., higher velocity.)

I traded my tarted-up Glock 34 [with a bunch of upgrades] for an M&P Pro (first gen) 5" with about every Apex after-market part you can get, already installed. The S&W M&P owner had been a Glock (USPSA) shooter who shot the S&W for a while and wanted to get back to Glock.

Best trade I've ever made -- and I liked the 34 a lot. This M&P Pro is one of the best shooting guns I own -- not stock, but a great gun.

I have a 1.0 9mm 5in. Apexflat trigger & FSS also the RAM. It runs. Very easy to shoot fast. My favorite pistol. Talon grips too.

Yes good reminder on the sight radius being the advantage. Just wanting to make sure for some reason the 5" length bbl didn't have any negative impact VS 4.25 etc.
Sounds like you are pretty happy with yours! Notice I never had a Glock

I shoot steel on Wednesday and USPSA Tact Pract on Thursdays, and Qualifiers on weekends etc. With a 9L.
Apex etc. 11lb recoil spring shooting only 115grn win white box with a power factor of 133 (low)

The 5 inch will reduce recoil. should be more accurate. My barrel is still the factory and is amazing still accurate.
I easily have 20K plus rounds through it. 300-400 rounds per week on it and I am very used to it so much so I can pop cans nearly all day at the open range here in AZ.

I firmly believe you should always get the longest barrel you can

One thing nice about a 5" barrel is the little higher fps and the
extra weight to help reduce the recoil, if you shoot maximum loads.

A lot of difference from a 3 or 3.5" CD model unless you are shooting
standard or target loads.

I purchased a new S&W M&P 2.0 FDE 9mm with the 5" barrel and installed a Streamlight TLR-6 and a picked up a couple extra FDE matching mags. Picked it up mid June 2017 from David Sr @ Zeller Armory in Scranton.

Went over to Heritage Guild in Easton, Pa to do some target shooting with it for the first time. Turns out after 33 years since shooting a pistol, I still got it I guess.

First full mag 17 shots, plus a partial mag at 10 yards (No-Laser). Not a bad shooter out of the box. Used 9mm 115gr Blazer Brass first time out.

I have the full size in 9,40 and 45. Shoot both IDPA and USPSA with the 9. Because I live in CA could not get a pro without paying a lot on the resale market. Recently got the CORE 5" upgrade slide kit. Added non co-witness fiber sites from Dawson and storm lake barrel. Already had apex sear and striker block. Shoots like a dream. Longer sight radius made a difference for me on those 15yd plus shots.
