M&P 9mm

Go for it. You won't be sorry. I have a couple of them & like them a lot.

It would be a good choice. I've had my M&P9 full size for almost three months now and I love it...so much so that I've decided I'm going to be carrying it soon. I'm a lefty and I love the ambi controls on the pistols. The ergonomics are great. Lastly, I love that it has a beaver tail. I allows for my big hands to get up under the gun for better control. It's very easy to keep clean. Mine was a little picky on ammo when I first got it, but it now feeds Federal Champion and Perfecta (Walmart) without a single hiccup. It loves PPU (hard to find unless you order bulk), it doesn't really care for Magtech, it hated Blazer Brass in the beginning, but since then I haven't had a single malfunction with it. I'm currently using Armscour (124 grain) and it's meh...I'll shoot a few more boxes and see what happens. Out of all the brands I've named, I can hit dead on from 7 yds with the Federal. All in all, the gun is a great choice and you won't regret it. Worst case scenario is if you buy and don't like it, you'll still recoup about 3/4 of your money back from a trade-in. Good luck. Let us know what you decide.

I carry mine most of the time, love it. I also use my M&P 9 compact as my back up. they are good guns.

M&P 9s are off roster in CA. Unless you're exempt, you'll need to buy one used via PPT (private party transfer).

My wife got me one for Christmas. So I won't be able to shoot it until Christmas Day. I'm excited about it. I've been wanting a full sized 9 for a while. I hope it isn't picky on ammo. I hope it likes Blazer Brass because I have nine boxes of it. Does anyone else's not like Blazer Brass?

I had an SD40VE that I liked a lot. It wasn't picky. It ate everything and was real accurate. That's what prompted me to get the M&P 9. They were $399 here on Black Friday and I couldn't walk by. I'm thinking it's going to be a great buy.

My first gun was an M&P full size 9mm. Love it at the range but a little large for concealed carry. So now I carry the Shield 9mm. Both great guns.

Ive shot a couple thousand rounds+ thru my compact and full size MP 9's and thats split mostly between Blazer Brass and Rem UMC (all 115 fmj). Not one issue with the Blazer, actually zero issues with any ammo.
Unlike .22's that can really be finicky i havent found a factory round my MPs didnt like and that includes my newer PC Shield.

I just traded my Kahr CM9 for a M&P 9mm fs yesterday. The guy only put one mag thru it!! I think I got the better end of the deal as the Kahr definitely had more rounds thru it and the M&P is valued higher! :)

I have had one for a few years. When the wife shot it she said it was her's now....so I bought a compact to go with it. Love them both!!!

I have 5 M&P handguns. 9fs, .40 pro series 4.25", .45 midsize, 357fs, and .22fs. Out of them all, the 9 is the only one that I've had issues with. I'm a lefty, and when I switched the mag release over, the follower would snag the mag release and hang up. I contacted S&W, and was sent new followers which also snagged causing ftf malfunctions. I ended up having to file off the corner of the follower to give it clearance to pass the mag release and continue above it. When the mag release was in the "right handed" position, it functioned perfect from day one. After all the headache, its now 100% reliable with zero malfunctions since.

I guess I should clarify which S&W 9mm.
Of course being from Ca it will be the Shield Ca compliant.

My apologies. I thought you meant a full size (or perhaps a compact). I have both. I bought them new while they were still on roster back in 2013. I also have a Shield. (All in 9mm).

You can't go wrong with any other them.
