I see a lot of posts about the accuracy of M&P 9mm pistols. Seems like they are kind of hit or miss in the accuracy department. However, I don't see many complaining about it with the 40's, why is this?

Maybe more new shooters buy 9mm??? (I don't have any accuracy issues with any of my 9mm's)

Aside from a handful of M&P barrel recrowns, our local combat tupperware gunsmith guru says he does not know what the hoo-hah is about. I've shot a few "inaccurate" pistols after matches that seemed to shoot OK for IDPA purposes when I shot them.

I am not sure the .40 had as many accuracy issues. The twist was okay for it. Some folks I know that cast bullets jut sized them to be accurate and solved their own problems in the 9mm.

I agree with the statement about the inaccurate pistols. One person has a truly inaccurate pistol and ten poor marksmen have an excuse.

I have a 9 compact, a 9mm Shield, and now a new 45 compact. All three guns can shoot better than I do. All have been very accurate right out of the box. My first shot out of my new 45c was a perfect Bullseye at 15 yards.

We had a newer shooter go 7/10 with her M&P 9C at 60 yards on man sized steel. She hit it five out of ten with my M&P 9. It was cool to watch. I could only hit it with ego turned off shooting subconsciously.

Great to hear about the lack of complaints on the 40 S&W accuracy anyway as I have one on layaway.

I think my .40 shoots very accurately. My first three shots with it at the range today were all bullseyes. Then I got excited about that and started pulling my shots some, but at least I know that was me.

My 9mm barrel in my .40 gun seems to have the same accuracy as the .40 does.

I think this is generous...

...I'd say it's more like one truly inaccurate gun to 100 poor marksmen. At least, 99% of those that have reported accuracy issues here have solved them with better technique and no repairs to the gun.

Not a surprise, since the typical pistol shooter is hit or miss regardless of the gun they're holding.

Thanks for the replies. I was just wondering.

The only accuracy issues I've ever had with my M&P's was me.

What gives is a lot of people can't shoot and don't realize it. I have 3 m&p's (2 9mm and a 40) and I can drill some holes w/ all 3.

................................. One person has a truly inaccurate pistol and ten poor marksmen have an excuse.

Ain't that the truth. And most of the reports of poor accuracy are about groups where the rounds are striking the target low and left...

So far I know that the problem with the 9MM was with the first batch or so because of the rifling, they changed it and now it has no problem they shoot very accurate 9MM, my 40 S&W shoots better than I ever can with it, all good with the M&Ps as far as I know.

My full size 9 is super accurate, my 9c is just really good. That is to say, I shoot the full size better than the little gun. If shots don't go where I want them to, it's my fault.
