I'll move this to a GUN forum for ya there, Boudreaux. :D

I've been looking all over and have yet to find one. The shops near here weren't even aware there was a new model coming out.:eek:

Haven't seen one yet but lots are listing them Price: $299.99-$309.99 but OOS as they haven't received them yet. Looks like they ship with two magazines and have shipped already to some dealers..

Looks to be one on GB for $329.95+

Last thing I heard semi-officially was delivery to selected dealers beginning in "early" March. I would deduct from that no one has seen one yet.

Picked up mine on 2/26 and I love it. Not too crazy about having to depress the magazine release to insert a magazine, but I overlook that.

Glad I held out. Not a 1911 guy so even as much as I liked it the P238 was out. I thought I was going to have to settle for an LCP.

Ga5700, do you have the new non-laser model or the older laser model?

I believe the OP is talking about the new model...

BTW- I spoke to S&W this morning on some "movie guns" and asked about the new model, should be shipping out next week is what I got...

I saw one at a gun show for 329. Trigger pull still feels the same. ( I talked the guy to letting me dry fire both)

The new bodyguard
Still comes in a plastic box now black.
still comes with a pouch to carry it
Does come with two mags

If he's having to depress the mag button to insert a magazine, he either has the new model and I wouldn't have one or he has a defective current model.

Depressing a button to insert a mag is ridiculous. I suspect he's not slamming it hard enough but that's just a guess.

Also M&P branded now and adjustable sights. I think that covers it.

I got hold one a couple days ago at my lgs. I like it but they still didn't improve the trigger any.

So you're confirming they are actually in the wild now and you've actually seen and held one at a LGS? That's great news.

Yes they're out there. My lgs got one in last week and had already sold it by the time I got to see it. The owner was nice enough to let me take a look before he left with it.

I wish S&W would adress the extremely heavy trigger pull.

That's my only problem with all the BG380's. Their trigger pull is so heavy it makes shooting accurately very hard. The new one has the same trigger as the older one with the laser.

I appreciate what you are saying but I see my BG as my "Get off of me gun." and not my "Get away from me." gun.

My BG Serves its purpose, just like my other EDCs.

Just a different perspective.

Has anyone seen these in the flesh yet??

I haven't seen one yet but there are now out there. Below is a post I started this morning.

I had myself down to me notified when this arrived at a major online service. I got the notification they had them in at 10:53 a.m. this morning and I went right to their site, since I was on the computer. None left in about two minutes it took me to get there. Anyone here get one???

When I got my BG in Dec of 12 it sort of took pushing the release button to seat mag. Totally unacceptable to me. I looked it over and figured that just a little force would work.

I pushed the mag in just a bit faster and harder than I was doing a few times and low and behold it goes in quite easily now. FWIW I'm well used to rapid mag changes in my 1911 when I was doing lots of combat shooting and used about the same amount of push. (My sons BG was the same and the little applied force worked fine on his also)

I really wish the BG was available without the laser as I feel in this little gun it is a superfluous item. This gun is for fast/ close point& shoot save your butt occasions. Saving a few bucks for a none needed piece of fluff works for me.

They are out without laser. See my post above.

I am wondering if the frame will be available to swap out on the older models I would prefer not having the laser also!! Does anyone know if this will be accessible??

Yesterday I got the new Bodyguard 380 and went to the range today - no shoot. Easy to rack, but the shell is not fitting properly - then a tough job to retract the slide. The range master had the some problem, so I took it back to the dealer - same problem Well, it is on its way back to S&W. The mag was very difficult to set - even when slamming. Maybe this is part of the problem. How many weeks will it be before I get my gun back?

BOY, am I glad I saw your post! I just picked up my new 380 today and while checking it out realized the mag won't go in unless I depress the release button. I can see where it is hanging up and, not being the type to fly off the handle, I was ready to box it up and back to S&W you go. I don't know why its that way, but if it is normal I can live with it.

Happy shooting,
Dave

I have the same issue with having to depress the mag release button to insert the magazine. I also have the old BG380 and do not have that problem. Magazines look exactly the same between old and new. I tried old mags in new gun and still needed to depress mag release. I tried the new mags in old BG and all went in without depressing button.

I hope this is not the way it was designed as in an emergency I do not want to be fumbling around with the release so I can insert a new mag. I am going to call S&W this afternoon to see what they have to say.

Hi guys,
I HAD the same problem with my new M&P BG until I took it to the range yesterday and ran 100 rounds through it. Not sure what happened but it's good now. My guess is the mag release just needs a little use before it works. If I take out the mag and look up the mag well from the bottom, I can see the mag release button. It looks like a piece of plastic with a piece of metal wrapped around it. When you insert a mag into the well, the edge of the mag hits the plastic portion of the button. Where the two meet, I now see the plastic part of the button has rounded off a little allowing the mag to slide in without pressing the button. Works great now.

I took a bad picture but hopefully you guys can see the part I'm talking about. You can see the slight rounding over of the plastic mag release button.
Bob
