my .380 Bodyguard [KCM9XXX] laser quit me. changed batteries Energizer], but didn't help. called S&W customer service. they said they couldn't help me, but gave me Crimson Trace phone #. Crimson Trace said their warranty was for only one year, but offered to sell me one for approx $50.

is this the way warranty on the built in laser is handled? quite a change from earlier times when they would replace an Insight laser with the Crimson Trace at no cost.

any suggestions how to handle this?

o.k., i will try them again, being polite of course. i looked at the warranty and they mention only one year warranty on finish and sights. maybe they are interpreting the laser as a sight???

thanks for reply....gives me some hope.

Did your pistol originally have the CT or the Insight?
My Insight stopped working and I believe there is a replacement from CT but I don't know if it's a direct drop in.
Thanks.

this particular Body Guard came with the CT. The Crimson Trace is a drop in for the Insight laser in the original Body Guard. i have done the change out. simple.

Oh thanks. That is what I've been waiting to find out. Time to switch it out. Thanks a ton!

T5 torx driver, and don't try to tighten it like you would a lug nut on a Ford F350.

Thanks. So it must come with a replacement screw for the original Allen head. Good to know.

yes, i just double checked it....thought i might be having an Old Timer's episode. and i'm sure you know not to over tighten, so please overlook my F350 lug nut remark. when i was 16, my brother and i were adjusting the screws on a Redfield scope mount and we found ourselves without a screwdriver. the closest thing we had was a lug nut tool, which we used. well, i probably don't need to tell you how that ended.

good luck

I'm 62, we've all been there!

Quick update: We are in the middle of moving so it took some time before I could work on the pistol but the sights came in and installed perfectly.
$49 made me a happy camper.

Thanks for the help, everyone.
