Guys, just wanted to let everybody know, I recently went out to buy a CCW for the winter. My local gun shop was out of Glock 19's but after comparing the Glock 23 which is the same size to the MP Compact 9mm, I found that the ergonomics of the MP 9c was way better than the Glock 23. I also liked the way the back strap of the MP 9c and it printed a lot less. Took it to the range and was surprised in spite of the trigger being the Achilles heels according to everyone, I did not feel the effects of it and the gun ran real well and at 21 feet it the groups were very good. The reset was nice, and it shot really well. The recoil was very low. Love this gun! A bit chunky however.

The most important thing about CCW is that you are comfortable with it and are willing to depend on it with your life. Congratulations on your choice and I'm glad you like it. It is a very good gun.

Yes I was surprised by the quality and I love that more than my Glock pistols which seem like plain jane

I carry a 40c...my girl has the 9c. Love these guns.
I can tell you, without a doubt...put the Apex DCAEK kit in and it will be the trigger you want for carry.
Completely smooths it out.

However, there are many things you can do to the sear and striker block safety to make it damn good as well, if you don't mind a little polishing and shaping. Burwell's has an EXCELLENT tutorial.

I don't have the time...I put the DCAEK kit on mine, and my girlfriends eyes lit up when she pulled the trigger compared to her box stock, 2 month old gun. (Yeah, I'm lucky to have a woman who appreciates that and loves to shoot)...:)

Quantico Tactical is the cheapest place I've found for mags for these, you can buy 3 and they're 26 each. Speed Shooters Specialists sells flat and "finger Groove" base plates for cheap.

S&W will "give" them to you...but there's normally a 2-4 week wait.

Glad you enjoy it.

i'm also a new 9c owner, and have really enjoyed it so far. I can agree on the above for SW; I requested a pinky rest for the flat plate mag (just cant seem to shoot with that one lol) which they offered to send one out but they just got their mag parts stock in so will be a couple+ weeks. Cant complain when it's free.

I recently got a 40c, really like the feel and accuracy. I heard the other day that they were being discontinued though. I'm hoping s&w keeps producing magazines for them

Interesting...where did you hear that?
If that were true, I'd go buy another new...just because.
S&W would be crazy to get rid of it. They have nothing else to compete with the double stack compact Glock, Springfield, Ruger, etc...

I don't think the Shield is the end all/be all gun. Nice gun, but not for everyone...

I have a 9c as well. Just sent the slide off to get Trijicon HD sights installed. It will be back tomorrow. I will probably put an Apex DCAEK or Poly FSS trigger in it. I have the Poly FSS trigger in my full size and it is sweet.

Enjoy your new pistol.

The 9c is one of the unsung gems of the M&P line. I have an early one that I carry almost daily. The only alteration I did was Robars NP3 finish which was well worth the money.

Nice to hear it's working well for you. I too was surprised by the trigger, not how bad it is, but how GOOD. I'm not the most discerning, but I was expecting a real dog with tons of grit/creep etc, and I'm happy with the trigger on both my full size and shield. I do wish the reset was more crisp but c'est la vie

Love my 9c. My trigger was **** when I got it though. Polished the striker block and it's now fairly Glock-like.

Big fan of the 9c, Bigfan of the M&P line of weapons. BUT for some reason my Glock 26 is a little easier to carry, Slightly more comfortable.
Both guns are reliable, accurate and easy to conceal. I just feel (to me anyway) that the Glock 26 conceals easier.
Just my 2 cents

The 9c ROCKS!!! I think its the best all around gun in the whole m&p pistol line!!!

I was also going to buy the Shield but it is only 3 ounces lighter than the 9c and the fact it only has 7 rounds, I might as well get a snub nose .357 and have a more powerful gun. Yes I know, you get an extra 2 rounds with the Shield but the Shield is less concealable than a J frame revolver. Yes I know you can use the 8 rounder but then the butt of the frame will be longer than the 9c. I think the 9c is the best of the two and me wanting the Shield I think is only because the grass seems greener on the other side syndrome. And considering the Compact 9c has 12 rounds, it seems a no brainer to stick to that one.

The reason for the shield isn't the weight, it's the thickness. Or should I say slimness. And it holds either 8 rds or 9 rds because of one in the chamber. Personally, I like them both and I think they both have their place.

Love my 9c! I just added a Viridian C5L-R laser/light combo to the rail. My Shield was definitely more comfortable to carry, but I don't mind the sacrifice.

love MY 9C. I don't grip the Shield well, so I don't have confidence in being able to shoot it well. The 9c points great.

Bought a 9c with the apex dcaek this past week and finally got to shoot it... I love it, so smooth, very accurate and just fun to shoot. I had great groupings at 7 and 10 yards having been my 2nd time shooting a handgun
