M&P Compact, 9mm

S&W specs show a weight of 21.7 oz for the 9mm compact.
I just picked up a new one and it weighs in at 25 5/8 oz.
with magazine (23 oz w/o mag & 2 5/8 oz for mag alone).
Either S& W has changed something or their listed specs.
are skewed. I note that they list the full size w/4.25 bbl.
at only 24 oz. I did the weights on a highly accurate digital
scale with a 5# capacity. Any comments on this would be
welcomed.

I have never weighed mine but I would guess it was like yours...a little heavier than described. I caarry it from early am till I go to bed in my hip in an Uncle Mike's holster (go figure). I haven't been busted....not even at church. It conceals really well. Shoots good too! I figure you will get a nicer holster but FYI, I am using a bigger holster than required so the butt sits right on top of my belt.....any higher and it prints too much.

Thanks for the heads-up Hammerbean. Haven't figured out
which way to go on a holster yet. Uncle Mike's might work
ok. I had been looking at Bianchi's 77 Piranha, as it has the advantage of carrying strong side or crossdraw. Trigger leaves
a lot to be desired on this particular unit, so a hard sear and
striker block will be called for as well.

21.7 as opposed to 23.0? 1.3 oz difference from stated specification, yes?
While the weight may be different from spec, there is a possibility that your 5 pound scales (80 oz) could be off some. 1.3 of 80 is 1.6% difference in stated full scale accuracy.
That's a pretty normal tolerance isn't it?

You are going to enjoy the 9c it is a great little pistol, I carry mine in a Taqua IWB which is very comfortable.

I figured I would use an Uncle Mike's till I decided if she was a keeper or not. My brother probably has over 1k invested in holsters for various guns and what does he normally carry?........his J frame 642 in a pocket holster (a nice horsehide one though). I plan to buy a Crossbreed Supertuck as soon as I make the final call on the m&p. Some Dawson adjustable sights are gonna help with the decision.

By the way, I am a firm believer in fine leather for a fine gun....but in fondling the Mitch Rosens, Kramers, Allesis, and Milt Sparks that my brother has, I have noted that (just for me and my body) they are quite thick, big, and stiff. Most of these traits can be attributed to fine craftsmanship...but still. That $13.00 Uncle Mikes slightly oversized with some scissor clipping and hand threading makes for a comfy and concealable holster...go figure.
