Hello everyone, this is my first post. I am a Canadian who loves my M&P in 40S&W cal, my gun came with the plastic frame tool, but I was looking at the Smith and Wesson pdf downloadable brochure, and it says that the M&P has available for aftermarket sale, a replacement frame tool made completely out of stainless steel with a black finish, and it also has a lanyard loop. I was interested in finding this online but am not having much luck. I can't get it locally due to my towns only gun shop being extremely slow,it would take them 6 months due to a backlog. So anyone know how I could get my hands on some M&P aftermarket options?

yes I tried but no luck, they don't sell it. Even though its an available option on all M&P's, maybe you can't buy it individually, maybe for now it has to be purchased with the gun.

But.......... once you're settled on your grip size why would you ever care to remove it?

I just looked over the PDFs but could not find your reference. But if S&W has it in a PDF I would call customer service and ask them how to purchase one. They normally do not promote another company's product.

I went through the entire S&W site and could not find the lanyard loop, or that particular PDF. Maybe if you post the web address for the page from the top of your browser, someone could find it. Does Canada get different pages than America? Customer Service is toll free from the US, if you can lead them to the page they should be able to find it for you. Customer Service may know about. If you're law enforcement maybe you armorer has info.

If you insert the .pdf file name that ajay has referenced in the search part of the S&W website, the file comes up. It's the 2007 M&P catalog.

I just called Smith & Wesson. They normally stock the part, but it's back ordered right now. The CS rep said they'd have them in about 3 weeks.

I guess I need computer lessons, no matter how I try to open that link I only get a small portion of the page. I did not want to call S&W until I could see the pdf. It did not sound like he wanted to call customer service either. Can a Canadian order parts from S&W the same as us?

Don't use the link. Use the file name "SW_LE_Military_1.pdf". Enter that in the search box on the S&W site. That will bring up a link to the full catalog.

I believe we are all talking at cross purposes. The picture shown in the link is from the catalog. It does not say it is made completely of stainless steel. The metal parts on the regular and the one pictured are stainless. The difference is the lanyard. The regular one is stainless but without the lanyard. The one pictured is what they put on the .45s with the manual safety. Just order the lanyard loop grip retaining pin insert.

I double checked this. There are two grip pins. One without a lanyard, one with a lanyard. If you are looking for some special LE only all stainless pin, it does not exist. The parts that are polymer are still polymer on the one with the lanyard. The catalog is just showing that you can get a lanyard on your pistol. It comes standard on the dark earth brown frame guns and the 45s with the manual safety.
