Well, I have now derived 15 years of much helpful information, enjoyment, and contacts with some nice folks from the Smith & Wesson Forum. I have tried to give back with helpful information whenever I could.

A situation has presented itself where I can provide a bit of Good Karma. A few months ago I purchased an M&P 2.0 Compact 15 round Optic Ready 9mm which I subsequently installed a Holosun on. I decided I liked it so much that I wanted to transition from my Shield PC 9mm to the M&P 2.0 for daily carry, but since I make a rare trip to CA, I wanted a magazine that would be sure to be legal there. So I went back to the shop where I bought the M&P and got what I mistakenly thought was a 10 rounder, however after getting it home found it to be too short, so I am guessing it might be for the shorter grip M&P, not really sure, the receipt says S&W part nbr 19462. I was actually more interested in the 17 rounder I purchased at the same time, since the M&P came with the grip adapter to be able to use 17 round mags, so quite frankly I did not look as closely at the 10 rounder as I should have.

In any event, my bad for being in a hurry, and as I do not plan on getting over that way for a while yet, and I just do not want to be an overly needy customer trying to return something way past the normal courtesy time allowed, they treated me very well on the pistol and other purchases in the past, I thought I would do something else with the mag.

Here are some pics, if a forum member identifies this as a mag that will work in your S&W, it is yours. First member to post they would like it gets a free Good Karma 0849 Mag. :)

It looks like someone may have changed the label on it, so I would recommend making a decision on fitment based on the pics more that the part number on the label.

That’s for a 1.0 Compact. Should fit 2.0 subcompact. Normal capacity is 12 rounds of 9mm. This one has the flush base (no pinky).

As it turns out, you can "convert" the compact to a full size with a base plate change. The 9mm mag bodies for the 10 round full and compact (1.0) are the same. The full just has a taller base plate to make up the grip length needed. You can either call S&W and explain that the labeling was confusing and you bought the wrong mag. Ask if they can send you just the base plate. Maybe they'll send you one.

Or you can just order it here:

Smith & Wesson M&P 9 Full Size Buttplate: MGW

You just need a long punch to push in the lock plate. The ones I have use the 17 round mag spring so it was hard to get it all stuffed back in the body.

Or course, this assumes you haven't given/traded it away.

Thanks.
