Looking for a iwb and possibly later a belt holster for my m&p's. Is there a material or brand that will keep the slide finish looking clean and not worn out? is it even possible on the m&p finish to wear out? Thanks.

Stay away from leather.

Kydex seems to not marr the heck out of guns. Leather will however. Sadly I only use leather haha

If you don't want to the holster material to rub the finish and wear it off, I also agree that Kydex or one of the other wonder materials is the way to go. On the other hand, if you want your pistol to develop a working gun's patina, then leather will help do that. I personally have not found a Kydex holster, IWB or OWB that was as comfortable to wear as a leather holster.

Certainly not. Thats why I love leather. All of my guns have a "cops gun" feel and look to them because I only use leather, whether its on duty, or off, shes clad in cow hide. Finishes can be redone. Comfort though.......thats something you want for life :-D

Its your carry gun... let it show it! All the other guns will be jealous that THEY don't get to go out on your hip and have the same worn/used/loved look to them.

I have a leather/kydex holster and it "polishes" the stainless slide on my fnx9. Not sure how the black holds up.

Heck I've had my 6906 for about 2 weeks. was 98% when i got it, but from dry draw and firing with snap caps, and my manual safety training, thats dropped to 95% already.....especially on the left side safety lever :-D haha

He's right...besides, it's not a shiny classic revolver...it's a a newfangled tupperware gun..just think of it as a Smith-Glock and you won't care...when I get mine, I won't even be wiping it down after carrying it....

Carry guns and holster wear

Have carried a handgun holstered either on a duty belt or IWB or OWB everyday since 73......have carried revolvers and auto's.....I use leather and kydex holsters.....I normally use IWB Kydex and leather for OWB .....I came to understand decades ago, that a "working gun" is going to show honest wear. I have several Smith's blued and stainless that I have carried for years, as well as Sig's, Glock's, HK's, Colt's....and they all show some degree of holster wear....it's going to happen. Particularly if you do a lot of presentations from the holster. These guns are "working guns" and look like it.

H&Ks, Glocks, and M&Ps are fighting tools. Yo could lump them together as Heckler and Smocks. A gun youre going to carry is a gun you may use. Worrying about how it looks is going to slow you down, and maybe get you ventilated. My work guns were primarily Sigs, and that Nitron shows about everything. It's the insides that are immaculate. Priorities, Son. Priorities.

^^^^ There ya go. If you want a collector quality safe queen, leave it in the safe. It's about fighting with a gun on which your life may depend. The finish and any honest wear on it is so far from meaning anything that you need to purge the entire train of thought from your head.

A worn finish only means its been beaten on just enough to know it will work when you need it :-D

Leave it in the box. Don't even put it in your pocket. Don't touch it and for sure don't shoot it. If you use it at all, it will show traces.

shtfgear.com are my favorite as far as the kydex and leather combo goes. After that I love the rgrizzleleather.com stuff!
