I would be very surprised if they put out a .357 sig 2.0. some companies aren't even doing .40 anymore

the KKM .357 sig barrel should work just fine in the .40 slide. The barrels are said to be interchangeable. at least that's what Apex says. they said they've tested their barrels pretty extensively with the 2.0

Thanks for the reply.

S&W dropped the 357sig do to the amount of problems they had with them in the hands of LE . Your also assuming the gen 1 barrels will fit in a gen2 and work well . They had more than enough lock up issues with the gen 1 pistols so if your going to carry thru with a 357sig barrel at least but a semi fit or gunsmith fit barrel !

I believe Apex Tactical said the barrels are the same, i could be wrong. Never heard of the lock up issues, thanks for the info.

Here is KKM KKM | Full .357Sig

This is what it says on that page in the description

"Note: All KKM M&P barrels work in the M&P 2.0 series."

I'll do some more internet searches to see if about this lock up issue, thanks!

As you might have noticed, S&W discontinued all of their .357 SIG weapons some time back.

Here in NC, the NC Highway Patrol had purchased a large number of S&W M&P models in that round as their duty weapons, and had a number of problems with them that S&W was unable to resolve. The NCHP later switched to SIG P229s. S&W discontinued .357 production soon after the NCHP problems.

As previously noted, my son is a Master Trooper and I learned of the problems from him and from news coverage out of Raleigh NC, headquarters for the NCHP and the home of state government. The problems were not secret.

Thanks for the info Walt, much appreciated.

What were the problems, specifically? I've got an M&P .357 SIG. I've never had a single failure of any kind. Just curious what kind of problems plagued the NCHP. Thanks.

I bought a factory S&W FS M&P .357 SIG barrel for my M&P's and have YET to have ANY problems with about 400-500 rounds through it. Currently, it resides in my M&P .40 shooting SPEER LAWMAN 125 gr. FMJ bullets. I love the power of this round and how accurate it is. I sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of this bullet.

.357 sig is a fun round to shoot. you really feel that blast. not really sure why it didn't really catch on as well as some others... its external ballistics are pretty amazing and its pretty easy to handle.

I love lawman ammo... good stuff

I have the same setup as you. I also reload this caliber. 124 gr Hornady XTPs loaded in this setup are something to behold. :) So yeah, my opinions mirror yours. It's definitely a "bad to the bone" round and I find it to be pretty darn accurate as well. My CCW is a 9mm Shield but I keep the .357Sig with me in the vehicle along with an extra mag or two. It also sees duty as the night stand gun.

That's a very modest level of shooting if you have have more than a couple of months into that number. Note that the usual expert recommendation, such as that by Doc Roberts, is for at least 500 rounds of DUTY ammo malfunction free before carrying a pistol for real. My contact with NCHP personnel indicated a much higher volume, a couple thousand per year IIRC. That would not surprise me, as every agency of which I am aware that had .357Sig pistols were agencies that trained hard and shot a lot, which is likely why they had good success with it in actual use.

I originally bought 2 boxes of SPEER LAWMAN (50 rds. each) of .357SIG ammo from Academy Sports (FREE shipping over $25) for $32.25. After my son and I shot both of those boxes, we went in half on 10 boxes of SPEER LAWMAN .357 SIG ammo from SGAmmo.com @ $15.95 a box + $16.00 shipping ($175.50). My .357 SIG barrel was used in my 1.0, 2.0, my sons 2.0 and my cousins 1.0. We still have 2.5 boxes of ammo left.
That SPEER LAWMAN is some very accurate and robust ammo! My son has put in a backorder order to Midway for his own barrel. My cousin bought a .40 to 9mm conversion barrel. He said .357 SIG ammo is too expensive (Arik).
