M&P M2.0

Improved grip stippling.
Eliminated the beavertail.
Improved slide stop.
Improved (PC) trigger--(lighter?) with improved reset--audible & tactile.
Almost forward slide serrations.
5" version available standard, with new tactile Loaded Chamber Indicator (LCI :) ) [Looks like it might interfere with mounting a red dot sight.]
Ambi metal mag release.
Different ejection port machining.
Steel insert in polymer dust cover to stiffen frame.
Lightened slide (narrower front top profile).
4th backstrap choice.
"Windows" in dust cover that are backed internally by the new steel skeleton, so not really windows that would allow **** into gun. Basically cosmetic, perhaps to quickly differentiate V2 visually.
Backwards compatible with mags, holsters, sights.
Different name for the same finish?

Anything else?
Does anyone know if the Shield 45 is based on the new M2.0 design? I noticed the stippling and the metal mag release as well as a better trigger feel appear to be features of the Shield 45. I'm not familiar enough with the 1.0 to know.

GrabaGun has the M2.0 in 9 for $449, and the .40 for $439, $8 flat shipping (two day UPS) and no upcharge for CC

Proper way to view a gun

Point taken. :p Also keep in mind that I'm not the world's greatest admirer of plastic pistols. That could be tainting my opinion. ;)

Damn, y'all are a harsh crowd. I personally think it looks sexy!
Well, there ya go! :D Different strokes for different folks. :)

This is pretty fun, watching the excitement over these new models. The 2.0's, the .45 Shield. These guns are finding their way into owners hands quickly after breaking cover. Was barely two weeks ago thes 2.0 was little more than a blooper at the Academy sports website. Keep the pics coming guys!

I just bought one, the first to hit a local store. I like it. I've shot the 9C and the Shield (rented at the range) and the trigger on this gun is a bit nicer than those. Especially the reset. The grip is more aggressive but not overly so for me at least. As for the holes, not sure what they are for but they do expose the extended frame. Indecently this is my first hand gun. Was hours away from getting the original 9 when I saw the release on the web. The old version is going away eventually. Range report to come.

Has anyone inspected the inside of the action to see if the trigger spring still depends upon a "tampon"-like filler to keep it from shattering?

I would be curious to see if that part of the original design has been addressed, but I am betting not.

Also, does anyone know why the S&W entry into the MHS got eliminated from the competition?

I'm working at the LGS today. I will take a look.

My 2016 MP9's stock trigger has an audible and tactile reset. Not sure what the deal is there.

I was able to shoot one on Saturday, 9mm 4.25 barrel. Great trigger and shoot a nice small group. Very nice gun to shoot, love the grip.

I'm still not understanding the front of the frame where it looks like a bear bit down real hard on it. I get the steel reinforcement thing but I don't see how it relates to those new holes.
Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either, but none of the videos discuss it even remotely. Not even to question why they're there.

Maybe it's a necessary part of the manufacturing process?

Yes it does.

It appears (from one photo I saw of the right side) to be a cutout in the plastic to show the serial number (in the long box) and either a logo or some sort of scannable code (in the square box). Didn't see the same on the left side but maybe they are just trying to make it uniform on both sides?

Someone who bought one should be along shortly to verify or deny my observation. :)

Yeah, except the serial number is on the back of the frame.
Well, some sort of writing is in that long box. Here is a screen grab. It sure looks like a serial number to me. :)

Not impressed. :o They better have some functional purpose in being there 'cause they sure don't add anything to the looks of the gun IMHO (other than just to be new & different). :( Same with the front slide attempt at a partial fishscale. Doesn't do a thing for me. :o Looks like a nasty machining screw-up as another member once remarked. ;)

Performance-wise, this better be a big winner because I don't think many are going to buy it just for the cosmetic changes. :o

The "holes" in the dust cover reveal the Serial Number which is now stamped on the metal rail which is integral to the fire-control mechanism. Perhaps the polymer frame can be replaced, ala Sig P320.

I played with one at Field & Stream this week. Nice stippling, a lot like the .45 Shield. Trigger feels similar to the "Performance Center" one....much improved over the prior one.

Why the "Shark Fin" Loaded Chamber Indicator on the 5" ?
I think it takes away from the aesthetics.

I'm not sure there's much you can do to FDE to make it look worse.

I think the rather unusual choices in early models may be a case of cleaning out the parts bin from military trials, old Performance Center parts, etc.
