I've always favored M&P over the similar competitors (Springfield, Glack). Then the 2.0's came out and I felt even better about my preference.

I only had one trailing hang up. That dammed hinged trigger shoe. But the power of prayer pulled through and they updated the shoe! I knew there was a God!

M&P Metal, new shoe; I love it. Shield+ 9mm, new shoes; I love it. But my blessings came to an end there...

... Shield 45, stanky old shoes...
... 45 M2.0, stanky old shoes...
... not a single 45 got new shoes!!!

... Metal 45... chirp, chirp... chirp... ...chirp...

The stupid 5.7x28s even got new shoes!
10mm, every version got new shoes.
30 Super Carry got new shoes!!!

WHY NOT 45s ?!?!?!

I even wrote to S&W, complimenting them on the new shoes, sharing my excitement for the 45s to be outfitted with them... "Unfortunately, we have no plans to release this firearm with that configuration..." RACIST!

Equal treatment for all! New shoes ALL!!!

Maybe they’re phasing out 45s because 45s are not selling; and they think 9mm is the future.

I don’t know why S&W does what they do.
I sometimes wonder if they know why they do what they do.

Maybe they were confused by the word 'shoes'. With the exception of trigger shoes that fit over skinny triggers to make them wider and give a better distribution of force on the trigger and hence a better perceived feel, shoes are something that go on your feet.

EDIT: Here's a picture of a trigger shoe. Note that it mounts on to the stock trigger:

Could you swap the trigger out from another model to the 45? Of course, that would mean someone has to sell you one and I doubt S&W will do that.

I assume you're right in that overall interest in 45acp is wanning, so they focused upgrades on other calibers. But are you really telling me that 45 is getting less love than 30SC or 5.7?

My assumption is... They stopped manufacturing the old triggers but have a stock lying around. They have to put them on something until the stock is gone.

It sucks for me that 45 is one of the places they chose to leave them. One thing that's even more surprising is they are leaving them on the 9mm PC models (exception being the Metal PC).

Hopefully the leftover stock is a couple cases and not a couple pallets...

As for trigger shoe... that's not a thing? I've always said that. I have no idea where I got it. But looking around the interwebs, you're right. It's not what it's commonly called. So what the heck do you call it?

I guess the "trigger" is the "shoe" and the "trigger kit" is the whole assembly? But no one says "I put an apex trigger kit on it" they just say "I put an apex trigger on it".

But HA! right below the window I'm typing in there are "similar threads" and they all use the term "trigger shoe"!

I'm confused by the word "shoes," too. Can I take it they are the stocks, or grip handles, grips, the part of the gun you hold when shooting? I've seen this word on revolver forums that show pictures of nice new stocks, so I guess that is what they are? Also, I agree that .45 isn't going anywhere for a while. Is the 5.7x28 that popular? It seems to be an interesting caliber but I can't buy any more guns. (I said that about 8 gun purchases ago.) Tom's post #3 is what I thought a shoe is.
