I have a M&P 4 inch compact manual safety I would like to buy a optic ready slide for it S&W won't sell you a slide is there some where else to buy them? Has anyone tried the new red dot from leopold that mounts by removing the rear sight and installs in the rear sight slot?

I have a 4.25” slide on my 4” compact frame. I got mine used off ebay with a Holosun 507c. Otherwise there are aftermarket slides you could buy, but they are pricey.

Depending on the cost of an Optics cut Slide plus Red Dot, you may want to consider the Leupold DeltaPoint Mico. It's mounting plate is designed to fit into the rear dove tail of the M&P (or Glock) and Co-Witnesses with the front sight.

I have the same pistol. I sent my stock slide out to be milled and Ceracoted. I think I paid under $200. Looks stock and fits my DPP perfectly. It also puts the optics a bit closer to the barrel.

Has anyone used the Leupold Deltapoint Micro I'am thinking real hard about it.

I'm wondering if that thing would fit on a Shield 1.0.

I have Trijicon night sights, but would gladly sacrifice the rear to be able to actually see something.

And while I'm posting, when the heck are they going to come out with a Shield .40 plus?

Thank you, looks like that would be the cheapest way.

...oh great, there goes $400.

ETA: ...naw, if I'm going to go with a dot sight I want a G40 with the slide already milled.

Had a G20 with a g29 frame cut, so I still have all the components to reload for it.

Then I'll get a Bigfoot tag. :)

Um... They have a DeltaPoint Micro for Glocks too.
No need to mill.

Yes I saw that, but I needed money at the time and sold the G20 I had, figured may as well get a G40 which already has a milled slide for a larger window type red dot.

Truthfully I'm just daydreaming and just now realizing that they make 6" barrels for a G20, so no velicity loss there to a G40, and a red dot doesn't need a longer slide for a sight radius advantage.

And I don't think they even issue bigfoot tags in this state.

I've used red dot sights before and my aging eyes could certainly benefit from having one on a Shield.

I think a Leupold DeltaPoint Micro on my Shield .40 would be pretty cool after all.

Thanks again! :)

Ultradot scope on a Ruger Mini-30...which I also sold.:(
