It's not really a carry gun for me, definitely not in summer. I have a couple of P365 variants that fill that role with a lot less bulk.
I carried the standard 2.0 as my duty gun for the last few years before I retired in 2023. At this point, while I do carry it while performing RSO shifts at the local range, my full size M&Ps are mostly nightstand guns, and what I shoot in the local practical pistol matches. I was interested to see if the comp version provided a real world benefit in recoil reduction. Jury is still out on that regard. I'm certainly happy with it and don't regret the purchase, but I can't say 100% at this point that any improvement is more than subjective. I've got ~250 rounds through it at this point, and sometime in the near future I'll run some back to back tests on the shot timer for splits.
Got ya. Thanks for the reply. I was torn myself. I've been carrying the P229 primarily, in an IWB for about the last 15 years. I decided, because of a shoulder injury, I would step down to a 9 mm for better accuracy, more rounds, flatter and faster, hopefully. So, I was kind of use to the bulk. I decided I would give a carry comp a try, after I shot it, I was smitten. I was looking for a flat shooter, with the least amount of recoil possible, and since it was optics ready, it checked all the boxes for me.
Also, this is my very first red dot. I've been practicing non stop with it. I'm absolutely loving it.
I have kinda big mitts and I'm 6'2" and about 225-230 so the Carry Comp is a pretty good fit for me with an IWB. I'm using a Muddy River Tactical IWB holster and I have one of the "Sticky" Brand comfort pads, it made a HUGE difference in comfort and kept the bulk down too. Even in a thin t-shirt, with an optic, and the Floyd EDC Magwell with +2 plate and it DOES NOT print, at all. Especially using the claw attachment.
I live in the south, so the lighter the better. There are so many great sub & micros to have a great or several great EDC setups. We've been looking at "buying my wife a P365 Legion" I know they are catching crap right now with the 320 fiasco. But the 365's are undeniably great pistols. Had they had the 365 I wanted in stock that day AND the Carry Comp…I would have probably had to walk home that day with my TWO new guns. Lol
