M&P Pro Series, bad trigger & new production

You're on the right track with letting your warranty and customer service take care of the problem.

I had a new 40c with an 8.5 lb trigger and got with customer service for an "out of spec" warranty claim. S&W took over from there and I got a really, really, sweet trigger back in return at no cost to me.

I have a 2014 production Pro 5 9mm and I'm happy to say the trigger was within spec and has been quite acceptable. Even so, the 40c that came back has a cleanness and smoothness that my Pro trigger does not have.

The moral of my story based on my experience with S&W, I think you will be pleased with the result of your warranty work and have have a Pro that will meet your expectations.

That's my thinking, I mentioned that there is talk all over the internet
forums about this issue and that I would post the results of this
interaction with S&W warranty dept, good or bad.

I'm guessing they would like some good PR online.

Well, 3 weeks later it's back.

Trigger is now glass smooth, 5½ lb pull

Better, then the 7+ lb pull when I bought it.

I will shoot it as is for a while, but it too will get an Apex FSS
kit like my C.O.R.E.

It does look like they replaced the striker block, looks a lot
like the Apex USB. I'm going to pull out the factory part from
my 4.25" pistol parts bag and compare the profile.

UPDATE:

The striker block is actually hand fitted. Rounded profile & polished.

I sent a picture to Randy at Apex Tactical and that's
his opinion as it's even more rounded over then the Apex USB.

Well, good luck.

I got my second kit in for the 5" CORE.

I am digging it. I will use the clubs pull meter tomorrow and report back.
When I checked it last week, it was at 6.8x lbs. I bet the is about 3.7. It feels a wee bit lighter than the 4.25".

The reset is not as pronounced as the 4.25". Talking with APEX, and the fact this CORE uses the ILS, that is the reason. If I want a much more crisp resest, I will need the RAM. Might be fun for $25 since I did not buy $125 Ameriglo iDots for this one. :D

Picked up a couple more mags this week, from Grabagun.
I think I can load about.....170 something rounds at a time now ;)

Also got 1K of ammoes in....$190 shipped.....not too shabby.
It is Brown Bear, so we will see how that goes.

All Pro Series and Performance Center guns use the ILS type frame.

They have the lock hole plugged.

Both of mine have good reset, equal to my 4.25" non ILS frame.

Strange you have an issue.

UPDATE:

Well this story comes full circle.

Some dry firing and good lube (weapons shield) and the
pull is right at 5½ pounds.

I put the pistol on Armslist and wouldn't you know it, a
member on the forum saw it & contacted me.

It's going to a forum member, and we meet Saturday morning.

Glad it's going to someone here.

Nice !! I already have a FS9 soon the Pro next will be the CORE :). I might get the flat trigger along with the competition springs for it, will see if the trigger is as good as advertised on this one. It will be a good addition to my growing family of M&P's.

As much as I prefer the Flat Face trigger, it requires using
Apex's USB because of the FSS sear.

The Performance Center "hand finished" striker block is so well
done, it actually is 1/2 a pound lighter on the trigger pull then
the Apex USB.

I would use the AEK aluminum trigger along with the competition spring kit.

But the PC sear is pretty good. You could always add the Apex
fully machined non FSS sear later.

non FSS trigger? I bought two full FSS kits and they both came with this trigger !

Ah, yes grasshopper. They "look" the same but geometry differs.

From Apex website:

The Apex Action Enhancement Trigger Kit directly replaces the factory hinged trigger with a solid body machined aluminum trigger, and a center mounted pivoting safety.
The center mounted pivoting safety bar prevents unintended operation by creating a trigger block that will not disengage unless the shooter places their finger directly on the trigger face.
The flat target style trigger causes the shooter to place their finger on the center line of the trigger and encourages trigger manipulation directly to the rear (in line with the bore axis). The AEK trigger also reduces pre-travel and over-travel by approximately 20% from the factory trigger.
It can be used in conjunction with any combination of M&P internals presently available from Apex Tactical*
(except Forward Set Sear & Trigger Kit), as well as any configuration from the S&W factory.
Perfect for use in M&P's already equipped with an Apex Competition Action Enhancement Kit or Duty/Carry Action Enhancement Kit.

Indeed, it will be like having your cake and eating it too.

The trigger looks just like your FSS triggers, but works with
the PC internals. And if the pull isn't light enough for you
a $40 Apex non FSS sear will make it perfect.
