M & P R8 Durability ?

Anyone using an R 8 for steele matches or IDPA ? I was considering purchasing one next week but a couple guys beat it up bad in the main forum and now I have my doubts about it holding up to thousands of rounds. The weight of the R8 is a plus that I'm thinking of and I don't intend to shoot magnums only light loads.

Sorry, I can't answer your question, but I just bought one I plan on using for bowling pins and steel plates.

Can you even use one for IDPA? I don't think it'll fit in the box.

I doubt the R8 will be legal for IDPA.

As for durability, I have one and have put 4000+ 38 special loads through it and it looks like the day I bought it. This is a durable revolver that I shoot regularly (once or more a week) and plan on doing for quite some time. The R8 is a fine revolver, and balances like an old PPC revolver due to the light frame and heavier barrel. I doubt you will be disappointed if you buy it.

Thanks for the response guys, not legal for IDPA is not a dissapointment the nearest match would be 3 hr. drive. I want a stock revolver for speed steele and I had the oportunity to shoot a R8 last week which was very impressive for first time in hand, loved the ballance, felt like a 4" but a lot of money for something you are going to run 5000 or so rounds a year through. Guess a couple of negative post gave me second thoughts

5" revolver barrels are not legal in IDPA for revolvers; plus you can't load more than 6 rounds in a revolver in IDPA.
R8 is not really a choice for IDPA or USPSA, but has a home in steel and pins.
