Is anyone having problems with the SWMP3B/BS series of knives in that they auto open sometimes and other times they bind up? I have two of these, made by Taylor and, when they work they are great but there are times they feel like they are locked tight and will not open at all.

I have two other series of the knives [different sizes] and they have different actions and work flawlessly.

Well, "mis-fires" with assisted opening knives can be a problem (although I have never had it happen with better quality brands such as Buck, SOG, Kershaw or Benchmade) it could be the safety mechanism is causing the problems. How do you fix it? Throw it in the garbage & get a better quality knife. Stay away from Taylor Brands and you will probably be trouble free.

I have a pair of Benchmade 690s but not their assist knives.

The later model S&W [also Taylor] work like a charm...smooth as silk opening. I was at Smoky Mountain Knife Works last weekend and worked with nearly everyone in the store. The S&W SWMP6 was as good as any [though a bit heavier]. Taylor called me in response to my email and are flipping my two problem knives for two SWMP6. They are going in the range bag and in the Jeep as work knives so they need to be right.

I could not be more pleased with the customer service at Taylor Brands on this assisted opening knife. They explained the problem, gave me options, let me choose which I wanted and sent me new knives. All on their nickel.

Last night I bought a new S&W M&P 4ls knife from a local store. The clerk told me they were an OK knife and they had sold all they had and that that was the last one. I got home and sat down with my sharpening tools and have a very sharp blade after just a few minuets. It is a blade assist and has a part serrated blade. It's a little heavy and fairly bulky, but it like the M&P's, it just feels good in hand. It opens very quickly and effortlessly, and has a safe button as well. I just looked on the S&W website and didn't find it there. It came in a box marked S&W and has the S&W logo on the handle. Does anyone know if this had been discontinued by S&W, or any information about the knife? It must be made by "Taylor Knives" as there is paperwork in the box from Taylor Brands LLC.
