40 short-and-weak is still a GREAT caliber.
Problem is, everybody already has eleven-teen copies of 40 in their footlocker. Something about twelve-teen just sounds silly, so its not cool to buy another one unless you're gonna do something like convert it to 357 SIG - in which case people complain about cost and scarcity of 357 SIG ammo, and the extra steps needed to reload it.
So 10mm re-appears out of the weeds. And even some pretty decent affordable 10mm ammo. So awesome-sauce. Even though a 38 Special will still do 99% of what anyone would ever need a handgun to do. And I have a box of them too.
Most of the time I carry a little 380 that fits in the watch-pocket of my dad jeans. I even wash the jeans. Sometimes.
I "practice" with it at double the distance I'd ever likely use it for the purpose I carry it for.
This gif of me with my 380, and pointing it at the camera, seems to really annoy some people. I aint never had to shoot anyone with it. So I don't really know if it's any good. I put 100 rounds through it at the range. Seems to work. I even bought a second one. And it works too. I have several 10mm guns. And a bunch of 40's and 38 Specials. Problem is, they're all too big to fit in my pocket.
I doubt I'll buy any more 40's.
At least not until 40 becomes cool again.
I've never used the sights or the safety.
But I do shoot low-left sometimes.
