M&P texture

I have an M&P 45, and have one issue: I think the finish is too slippery. I will not stipple this fine pistol.

Does anyone have recommendations such as aftermarket grips to improve the texture?

I handled an M&P CORE at the LGS, and it had a backstrap with a nice grippy texture. I would love to get my hands on those.....

Do a search for Talon grips. They are really popular and work well.

1. you could stipple just the backstrap, which is easily replaced
2. you could apply talon grips or traction grips (cheaper than talon and less grippy)

How about the new grip inserts they make for the CORE pistol? I think they fit, but you can check with the factory. Order a set of those from S&W.

You can try the thing they recommend on the Kahr forum, use a section of bicycle inner tube to enhance the grip.

Last I heard they weren't selling them retail, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I think they are slippery too, until purchasing pre-stippled backstraps from Damato. Problem solved. I went with the aggressive starburst design and love it. Many designs to chose from in all sizes & colors. Hope this helps.

Agreed, they are too slippery (and so are Crimson Trace Lasergrips). I've used Talon, and while they feel amazing, they don't adhere well enough. On all of my Talon grips, despite following their directions, the bottom pieces always peel away after a good range session. I think I will try the bicycle tube before venturing into stippling on my own.

On my M&P 15-22 rifle I slipped one of those rubber tennis overgrips on. It has a nice tacky surface..... although it might not fit because the M&P pistol grip is thicker, but for 3 bucks at Wallyworld you might want to get one and try to slip it on.

I have Talon grips on both my M&P 40: big improvement over stock. I don't know how long Talon grips last. I suppose if its 6 months I'd be disappointed (depends on weather, how many rounds, etc.), but I wouldn't choose a grip based on cost given the initial cost of the handgun and cost of ammo. OTOH, I'd try a less expensive grip with good recommendations: maybe put one on my M&P 22 which is seldom fired.

I also recommend Talon grips. I have them on several pistols, and have never had them peel off. The oldest set has been on my G26 for about three years.

Having said that, I'm going to buy some 3M Step & Ladder Tread to see how that works.

Absolutely agree!!
I first put them on my Shield the then my 45c. I never liked the sandpaper finish Talons but the rubberized are superb.

M&Ps BEG To be stippled, all of mine are stippled, no regrets. Grip tape isn't nearly as good as a good stipple job... Especially when a trigger undercut is added.... You don't need to stipple the entire gun, just do the front and backstrap.
