Hi all,

I'm thinking about an M&P 40c for CCW and was toying with the idea of having it with the thumb safety. For those of you that have it in this configuration, is the safety pretty positive, or is it floppy and easily, unintentionally actuated? I have a shield with the safety, but so far it has been GTG.

The M&P's safety is NOT as positive as I would like, that is why I modify them with my needle point file. I deepen the notches, which requires removing the safety from the pistol and filing carefully the notches.

I like a safety on my pistols, but these will activate and deactivate too easy for me. FYI, I have 5 M&P's with the safety, and they all were this way.

Have never had the manual safety switch on or off by itself due to being carried. I find it positive and crisp. However, might look at deepening the notches as others have suggested. I prefer manual safeties.

i do like the safety om my 40c, but i am going to put crimson trace grip on it so while i have the safety out so i can cut off right side i will file it a little as stated here just to give it some more click.

are there any writeups or videos to make the safety adjustment for a more positive engagement?

I have a safety on my 9c and it works just fine as is. It's never activated or deactivated unintentionally. I wouldn't touch it unless it actually starts doing that.

I like the safety option because all my automatics run the same way with it. Upon draw from the holster, it comes off; it goes back on before holstering.
