M&P Trigger Stuck Back after Apex RAM

After installing the Apex Competition AEK and RAM into my M&P Pro, the trigger stays stuck back after firing. I can then push the trigger forward and it resets correctly, but it consistently stays stuck back otherwise. I can also cause it to pop back by nudging the slide release. I can replicate this dryfiring by racking and releasing the slide - if I ride it back it doesn't happen.

This doesn't seem to be the 'sear flutter' issue because once the trigger is pushed forward I can fire again. This M&P is also only a few months old, so should have the new sear.


Any ideas? With the slide off, the trigger seems to operate and reset correctly, and the striker block on the slide moves freely. This has the Apex RAM, USB, and competition springs. I've also polished the trigger bar and striker where it meets the sear, and tried adding oil to all the points on the trigger bar where it meets the frame.

Call or send Apex an email, if you haven't already. After I installed the poly FSS trigger set, I had a few times where pulled trigger didn't fire a shot. Got quick response to an email asking a few questions then pointing me to the fix (adjust the trigger bar loop per install video on the aluminum trigger).

Does this only happen when shooting? Does it do the same with the slide off? Did you correctly install the trigger spring?

I have the same setup and I've even done a lot of polishing on mine as well. Can you post a video by chance? Also did you correctly install the trigger? does the trigger bar seem to be binding against anything? Is the trigger safety working correctly? And the last question is how did your eyeloop adjustment go for (That makes contact with the sear)

Sigh, of course as soon as I try to start recording video, I can't reproduce it consistently with dryfiring. The trigger still feels like it isn't pulling back correctly, it feels like it pops back instead of riding with my finger.

However, I did find that by pressing the slide release, I could replicate the same effect. Does that happen for anyone else? Here's a video:

You can also see that with the slide off, everything seems to operate normally, there doesn't appear to be any binding, though the trigger bar does touch the slide release. I think the trigger safety is working correctly, but not sure what to look for - the trigger won't pull back unless my finger is on the lower part. I didn't adjust the eyeloop at all.

Do you happen to have the Apex RAM some how installed? Your trigger bar moves a lot, newer M&Ps I was told that due to the redesign they have yet to have the RAM available. Mine seems to have a very smooth backwards action and also doesn't seem to move off to the inside as yours does. I had to adjust my eye loop to allow the sear to move up.

I do have the Apex RAM installed. Even though this is a new M&P, it seems like the Pro series still has the old sear housing block that RAM works with.

Tried reinstalling the original trigger spring, and while it's better, it's still definitely getting caught on something.

It's gotta be the RAM, I have a newer pro series (core) and I called apex about the ram and was told they don't function correctly in the newer designs due to the redesign of the housing or something like that. Try removing the ram and seeing if that fixes it.

It does seem to be working better without the RAM when dryfiring, I'll have to take it to the range to try it out.

It looks like the problem is with your trigger itself. Try removing the locking block and re-installing the factory trigger return spring and put it all back together.

While that website shows it should it doesn't take in to account for the redesign, trust me I've spoken to Apex about it and they are in the works of building a new one.

After mailing back and forth with Randy Lee of Apex, he suggested that it might be because the top of the trigger bar was too tall and was binding with the slide. I noticed that when I put oil on it, I could see it leaving streak marks on the channel in the slide.

So I took my filing stones and shortened it a tiny bit, smoothed it out, and polished it. The trigger now seems to work beautifully in live fire! I can't get the trigger to bind even when pushing on the slide release. It also seems to have helped the trigger feel a lot more crisp.

So the current Apex RAM does work in the new M&P Pros, as long as they have the old safety plug design. Thanks so much for the help I found here and from Apex!
