M&P trigger

Fairly new forum member here but just want to confirm with you guys. It is ok to dry fire the 9C and Shield "thousands" of time (no snap caps). No harm to the pistol? Have both and can't go to the range that much and I really want to exercise the triggers.

After you've been here a while and read a lot of threads, you'll see the member that made post #18 is very knowledgeable. You can take his comments to the bank.

That is correct! Dry fire away!!

According to S&W, all M&P pistols were going to be issued the enhanced trigger that the Shield had. This was supposed to take place around April 2015. The barrels were also going to have a tighter twist to improve accuracy, which was also a problem of the past. I can tell you that it is 100% better. I took a tactical pistol class in November and my full size M&P 9mm was hitting steel 6" wide by 13" high at a distance of 65 yds. My old M&P would not do that. My old M&P was off target by 12" at 25 yds.

If you don't mind me asking, when you say "according to S&W" did you speak with someone there about this or read it in something? I'd love to confirm the actual source of this info. I've heard the same thing, but am yet without a definitive source. Good news for sure. Thanks!

There was a thread here long ago that stated how the Shield trigger was to be spread across all M&Ps. From memory, I thought the implementation would have been prior to April 2015. Next time I view the forum via a PC, I'll try to search and find that thread. Searching via my phone is a pain. Unless I am mixing it up with something else, I think someone knew the serial numbers for some of the models that was the breakpoint for the changes.

Thank you. I have long believed the Shield's trigger to be noticeably superior to the standard M&P lineup (barring of course the Pro and Performance Series).
