First I'll start with I've had this rifle for over 5 years now and say it has been an excellent rifle; however, up until this past weekend, 8/9, I had never shot it beyond 350 yards which was on my first mule deer in Wyoming. I also took my first elk with this rifle and shot it sparingly throughout the years.

Through all those years, I've done a little work to the rifle: swapping out the trigger, changing the stock, replacing the handguard, and adding an adjustable gas block. (I shoot almost exclusively with a silencer and wanted to reduce gas back into the gun)

A month or so ago I found out about a smoking deal on Leupold Mk5 at Cabelas. I managed to get over there and score a 3-18 with TMR reticle for 50% off! So I thought to myself, well I've never really tested how far and accurate I could take this rifle why not throw it on their and give it a shot. (Pun Intended)

Enter this past weekend and the range I go to has the ability to shoot out to 1400 yards. In my mind, I thought well if I can get out to 800 with this rifle, I'll consider that good. I start small and hit the 400 and 500 yard steel gongs with little to no effort. I then decide to take it out 600 and 700 and again no issues. I then get to the 800 yard target and can still make good hits. At this point I am feeling pretty good about the rifle and decide what the hell why not go for a grand. I ended up getting several hits out to 1k, with low wind that day, and can't say how impressed I am with what this rifle can do. I wanted to go further but didn't have time due to needing to shoot some other rifles and spotting for other shooters. Will continue to push the limits of it and report back.

I say all the above as a testament to what the rifle CAN do if you do your part and what a value it truly is.

That is very inspiring. I’m glad to hear of your success. I’ve been wanting to get out and do the same but have been delayed by trouble with my shooting eye. I have an M&P 10 in 6.5 Creedmoor. Love the rifle! Glad to hear from someone having great success!

To the Range and Beyond

Welcome to the Best Smith & Wesson Forum. Accept no Substitutes.

I like the 308Win. I looked at the M&P 10 before, and I like the Quality
of it. I wondered if the M&P10 with a high quality Scope would
do, now I know.

Thank you for sharing your Range Report and Picture. All confirms how
good a set up you have there. LabRadar is a nice touch, I've
read good Reports on it also.

The Best to you and Endeavors with the M&P10.

Thanks again.

Well done. I just got my Bushnell Nitro mounted on the AR10 Sport and I desperately need to get out and calibrate the scope. I still need to find a decent bipod that fits or can be made to fit with the stock handguard.
