Ok lets try this again.

Ive drawn up a couple of targets so that we can standardize our results so that everyone can see an apples to apples comparison.

First is a drawing of the NRA 50 ft competition target (A-36). there is 12 bulls on this target. This is a very Challenging target. The two bulls in the center are for sight check/fouling shots. Then the shooter takes one shot at each bull. This allows you to get a true score for ten shots. The ten ring is literally a dot in the center of the bull.

The next target is a 50 ft sight in target that has six bulls on a 1/2" grid.

And the last target is another sight in target that's better for use beyond 50 ft. I just drew this up, so I haven't shot at it yet. I'm hoping I got it the right size for 50 yards. Try it out and let me know if you have any issues with it.

Shoot your groups, 10 rounds per bull. Note the ammo brand/type next to each bull, and the distance shot. Then scan or photograph and post results here.

Also, as far as I'm concerned, you can distribute the targets to anybody you like.

So do you want me to follow these instructions for all three targets? Most of us decided on a distance of 50 yards, so I figured I'd be using the third target. I'm just wanting to shoot them exactly how you guys wanna see them. So right now I'm thinking I'm gonna shoot the 3rd target on the list at 50 yards, shooting 10 shots at each one. Is this how I should do it?

Just a suggestion for simplicity sake... one target and one distance should suffice. Besides, using multiple targets and sistances will be very expensive.... I doubt my laptop screen will survive the first 10 shots. :D

50ft target will work for me, since I won't have a chance to go to an outdoor rifle range any time soon. (It's freezing here :p)

I will be able shoot 15-22 at the indoor pistol range near my house (75' max range). It will be nice and warm there. ;)

This is what I shot yesterday. Standing for the main target at 50 and 75'. Not aiming so precisely. The bottom Shoot and C target was shot in the kneeling position with the complete magazine of 25 rounds at 75'.

Went to the indoor range today with my M&P 15-22. Used a Primary Arms M4 Style (1X) Red Dot Scope with target at 25 yards. I didn't see this post until I got home. I'll give your targets a try on my next trip. Until then,

Here is my best group at 25 yards using CCI Blazer Ammo This was a full 25 round clip:

here are the first results with the new "comparable" targets. these targets were all shot at 50 yards off a bench using Aguila Match Rifle ammo. Ignore the one round I have circled, It was a dud, I was aiming at the top circle when i shot it and it fell that much, sounded like a pellet gun when it went off. I replaced that round in the clip and continued shooting. That is the first and only trouble I have had while shooting my 15-22. heres the targets.

You all firing with cross-hair scopes from the bench? That diamond target is pretty tiny at 50 yards to my eyes.

I used just a red dot (no cross hairs) no magnification (1X)
The dot at 25 yards covers about 50% of the target. Almost like using iron sites.....

Yeah, the diamond pattern is optimized for scoped rifle sight in. If you have any suggestions, I can make some adjustments or draw up one better suited for iron sights at 50 yards.

Since my eyesight isn't as good as it was,I am using the TruGlo red dot.5MOA recticle 1 dot 30mm lens. I kept the iron sites on and aim through them. The red dot is at the top of the front sight and that helps a lot. Turn off the red dot and I can still use the iron sights, without removing anything else. That is what I used in my previous post with the picture of the target 25 yds.
