Went to the range today and had some problems with ejecting. I was using winchester 36gr plated HP rated at 1280fps. I was only loading 10-12 rounds at a time since i was sighting the weapon in. While shooting it seemed the spent round would get caught between the bolt and chamber every 4 to 7 shots. Guess I should have brought my camera so I could have taken pics. A good explination would be if you were to look at the ejection port the rim end of the cartridge would be facing out. I thought I was being careful while loading the mag. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas what the problem might be?

Skiman, this fte problem is all over this site with a lot of detail. IMO you have 2 choices: Send it back to smith ( excellent customer service ) or there is a do it yourself repair vid for this problem on youtube. Basically either way the ejector will probably have to be moved about 1/16 th of an inch. I sent mine back to smith.

there is a video on Youtube shows you how to fix the FTE problem, and a lot of people who tried it said it works prefect.

I was having a few FTE. Not as many as your having though.

I tweeked the extractor just a "hair". I have fired over 1500 more rounds with 4-5 FTE problems total.

Over 2000 rounds total fired.

Make sure the extractor is still there. If so, watch the video and give that ejector a good twist.

I had a box of winchester ammo one time and I tried shooting it through my Walther p-22, it jammed every single time you tried to shoot it. I also tried to shoot it in another .22 rifle that I have, it jammed every single time. I threw almost 500 rounds of Winchester ammo away. Winchester ammo sucks, try something different. Or you could do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO76HC9tD4g

Winchester ammo should be fine. I just ran through an entire bulk box of it recently with no trouble. I would suggest the tweak on the ejector and it should run like a fine swiss watch.
