The last pic looks like the magazine is splitting down the middle. (as in, separating at the seam) Is that the case, or is it supposed to be like that?
yes the mag is splitting down the middle

That probably has a lot to do with why your rounds are not holding properly. Closing the gap, will bring the lips closer together, and may help the issue you're experiencing.
gorilla tape and super glue beg to differ with you.
the splitting definetly doesnt help, but the lips are still bent enough to let an occasional round pop out.
Well, like I said, "MAY help".In any case, looks like it's time to replace them.

The wear on the lips may still be due to the extra room in between the lips due to the case splitting at the seam.
Easily cured with a little LocTite CA glue.
I see what you mean. First time I seen a magazine look that bad. Do you jam the magazine hard into the rifle or dropped it on the top end alot?
That is more likely and has been reported by others. I have 12 mags and store them loaded (although I empty them several times a week) and they aren't splitting and the feed lips certainly aren't flexing.
i can fix the spine but the lips are still bent.
how much is locktight?
ive heard alot about it in the forums, sounds like a good product
I am at a loss to understand how the lips get bent.
LocTite is three or four dollars at just about any hardware store.
FWIW, the only damaged magazines that I have personally seen have all been abused in some way - generally dropped on concrete or other hard surfaces. We have guys shooting plates at our range dropping mags on the ground and they don't seem to ever have any mag problems.
I'm not sure how much you are familiar with the operation of the 15-22 mag, or how much you use it but the mags will bind or jamb a .22 round if trying to load in a hurry or when it is 2/3 full. Keep in mind the mags used by the military or anyone else for that matter use a completely different style and caliber. The 15-22 mag is much narrower and steps into it are completely different than the 556. This is the same concern I stated earlier in this link and you seem to think that I did not know how to load it. Looks like I'm not the only one.
Funny how that works out.
My sentiments also.Back on topic everyone!! Any updates DD?!
