M&P15-22 Mag development

Can I just pay you now for 2 of them? I'm tired of waiting....

I am very interested in the final product and reviews. I would avoid over developing the product until you have seen some of the reward. You can redesign to add metal lips if you decide to have more molds made. If these work well I would like to think I could purchase 2-5 of them. Looking forward to the next update.

I'm not trying to over develop these mags. If I keep changing things on them I'd be wasting more time and money and these injection molds are not cheap.

I would like to take orders now but I can't. I want to make sure the molds and prototypes are to my design specs and ready for manufacturing before I take orders. Wish this process was a lot easier but unfortunately its not. I will let everyone know when its ready. Thanks for your interest.

Forget the metal feed lips, how about...stay with me here......a bottle opener. I don't see how adding a bottle opener somewhere on the mag would qualify as "over developing". but only on the 10 rounders. Us poor folks in the ban states need some kind of advantage to brag about.

it'd be kind of cool though...

Tacticool22 already has a rail mounted bottle-opener. :p

It may be too late in your build process, but what about having spring steel lips on the mag to replace the polymer lips that eventually wear out?

If you look through page 6 to 5
You'll see a discussion started by myself discussing this very thing.
Have you had experience with failures of the standard poly lips?
Mine have warped rather severely. I'd be interested to know what happened to yours.

You will have something to brag about trust me. Bottle opener on a mag? Tacticool22 has a rail mounted one like others have posted. Not a bad idea just dont see the purpose on a .22lr. Unless you need one when the zombies arrive.lol

I never saw the tactical (yes I used the "T" word) bottle opener as caliber specific really, which I guess would give the rail mounted one more validity over the mag incorporated one. The way I see it happening if at all, would be to have it incorporated into the ranger plate. Think about it, there has to be a way to make a ranger plate that is both easy for the end user to grab and has the capability to open bottles. Nothing like slamming a cold drink in between slaying some zombies and changing mags....just saying, you'd be the coolest mall ninja and or 12 pack hero on the block.

I have a problem understanding how this happened. 10k through my magazines and not the first sign of wear. Haven't seen any other posts about warped magazine lips, either. We have several dozen 15-22 owners that use my range on a regular basis and I haven't heard any mag lip-related complaints from their either. The only way I can see warping happening is extreme heat (REALLY hot) or chemical softening.

Can you post some photos?

The problem I have is with my 2 oldest mags. Not warping but erosion. Brass is harder than polymer and they are just wore out. Probably happens back when I was testing parts I made. It was common for me to shoot 2 boxes of 550s a couple times a week.

I "fixed" one with low heat and re shaping as best I could but it was just a get by fix. I guess with lower round count or "regular" use they last good enough. So I will redact my comment for metal lips...now what about that magazine bayonet?

That happens; magazines are considered consumables. :)

I haven't seen much issue with my magazines, I put about 3 boxes of federal 550 through a week.

Are they? I would have thought they'd be considered durable goods. When I think of consumables (and I hate that word) I think of things I can either eat or burn. Meaning food or fuel, or ammo...

When I was shooting competitively back in the mid to late 70s, I was taught that magazines don't last forever in competition, especially those that spend a lot of time dropping to the ground. :D

Speaking of a magazine bayonet... maybe not that, but something taken from the Samurai.

A sheath incorporated into the side of the magazine, that would hold a field knife. Like the small knives that were hidden inside the Samurai sword scabbard?
