M&P15-22 Mag development

I hope you aren't rushing the magazine production on the assumption that there will be another assault weapons ban, including mag capacity, in the immediate future. I honestly don't think Obama will sign anything in by executive order and has not said anything to support conspiracy theories beyond the fact that he still supports some form of regulation. Legislation will come from the bottom up (house and senate) but it will meet fierce resistance from pro-gun lobbyists and supporters which will buy you some time.

I am excited for this magazine and hope that it will function flawlessly. Take your time and do it right. The last thing you want is everyone to buy your mag. and have it be a lemon of a product due to some shoddy manufacturing.

I dont think there is going to be a Weapons Ban. I feel they are going after the high capacity magazines first. I'm not cutting out quality just because I want mags completed faster. I intend on having a quality product that will last for many years. I will not sell a single magazine if its not up to my standards of both function and quality. I would have to test after the molds are completed to make sure its ready for sell but having the molds completed quicker will help me get them tested before they start any new Bill in Congress.

You're on the right track. Any mag that doesn't function flawlessly is just junk regardless of whether it holds 5 rounds or 50 rounds. I wish Plinker Tactical had shared your views of quality and reliability....:D

Update: Talked to the company today and they will not be able to have it completed by end of month. Not what I wanted to hear but I understand injection molding is not easy to do even with a company that works in that industry. On another note, Obama is pushing forward with his agenda for gun control. I got to watch the news conference today and was a little upset seeing that I'm trying to manufacture a product that they want to band. I can only hope for the public not to push the issue as much as political folks. Hope everyone had a positive day.

ddt i hope all your work has not been for naut,i hate to say it but you might be out alot of cash if obongo and his gun grabbin crew get their way,the world needs to wake up and see guns do way more good than harm--they save lives and property and are responsible for many hours of recreational enjoyment besides the fact they keep us free from dictators(i can name one who is a real threat) and enslavement.i wish you luck in your endevers and hope things go the right way for you in the wake of this latest tradgety

I feel it will not happen anytime soon or in the next 3-6 months due to them not having enough buyin from the people. Yes, there are people who want it to happen but I think there are more people that will oppose their Bill. And if they succeed in their Bill, the unemployment line will make them regret the decision. Companies will lose Millions of dollars due to a Ban and with our economy already hurting I dont think it will happen. Plus most gun and rifle owners are not going to buyin to the Bill.

Blah, blah, blah...

DT,

I'm very happy to hear your positivity toward the potential ban on high capacity rifles and magazines. I appreciate your attitude toward the R&D process and commitment to the design, manufacturing and support of a quality product.

I have tested many firearm related products in the last 10 years. I have built a few high capacity feeding devices. All panic buying aside, I will not buy any of these until I have thoroughly tested one. If this design is successful it will be a welcome asset for the M&P 12-22 line.

I look forward to the release and evaluation of your design.

Thank you again for keeping us informed,

Matt

Hello Matt,

I completely understand what you mean, I too need to see, feel, and use the product before I make a purchase. With that said I will test the mags and others before they are sold to anyone. I will definitely keep everyone posted. Thanks for your interest in the mag.

DT,
I have been lurking and learning... 1st time poster here on this forum.!!!!

Looking forward to your mag coming to fruition.!!!! I think you will have time to get it to market...
As long as WE THE PEOPLE, stand up to this political nonsense as it comes to bad hicap mags and black guns.!!!!

Keep the faith, I am and will be a buyer...as soon as you put it on the market here.!!!!!! ;0)

I can't believe there is already companies like Walmart and Dicks sporting goods taking AR's and Magazines off their shelves when a Bill hasn't been introduced. They are over reacting to this media frenzy. I was watching the News this am and a gunshop in Oregon has sold more AR's this week than they have in 20 years in business.

I'm the opposite in this case. I've followed this thread for a long time, and I believe the work that DT has put into it, warrants a good faith purchase to at least help recover some of the cost of design and production. I have plenty of other magazines, so I'm not worried about dropping some dough on this one. If for some reason it's a dud (which I doubt it will be, but it's a slim possibility), then I'm sure if DT can, he'll make the changes for a v2. Maybe even give a discount on v2 for the early adopters. (hint, hint) :D

WalMart has historically caved in to the anti-gun crowd as relates to selling firearms.

is there an eta on these like when will they be available for sale

This thread will be the first place anyone will find out if it is ready. If you read back it is still a little way out. No need to keep asking the same question others already have asked. Hold tight, and keep some funds loose for when it is ready!! ;)

Hey DT - Are there immediate plans for a ten-round version for those of us stuck in the People's Republic of California? I would kind of assume that if a ban were to go into effect it would be similar to what we have in our screwed-up state, so a ten-rounder might be a good idea.

I look forward to being one of the first to purchase a couple of your magazines. I have an idea... Instead of a bottle opener floorplate. How about just adding a 1913 picatinny rail to the floorplate that way we could add what ever accessory we want to it...?

10rd version will be available after I get the High capacity mags completed. If I was to give a time frame I would say Feb.13. I would like for it to be sooner but I have money tied up in the high caps right now.

This sounds like a Good Idea. I'll work on a design soon. I working on website, facebook page, and logo this week. It shouldn't take me more than a day or 2 to design it. Thanks for the idea.

Just found and read this thread. Great work, I'll be in for 5-10 when they come to market. Keep up the great work and Merry Christmas!
