Looking to add some Magpul MOE handgaurds to my MP15. I also want to do this for my MP15-22. I need a gas block exactly like the one on my Optics Ready MP15. That way I have something to hold the handguard retainer in place. I already have the Tacticool22 barrel nut conversion so I can now install a Delta Ring assembly.

Anyone know of a gas block exactly like the SW MP15 OR model?

Well, the 15-22 doesn't have a gas block and I'm looking for the MP15 ORC gas block...so I think my post is in the right place.

I think Grover was pointing you in the right direction by posting in the 15-22 forum, as I'm sure many have been through the same project you are looking to undertake. So owners of the 15-22 that have made this mod would have better experience with a 15-22.

I have seen a FSB made for the 15-22 so you can add standard handguards. It really doesn't need to be a "railed gas block" similar to the OR rifle.

I agree with Grover the 15-22 forum is the place to go for this type of advice

I want it to be railed so they look exactly the same. Hense my specific desire for information on the gas block on the ORC.

Call Smith and Wesson and buy a replacement gas block from them. Weather or not it will work with the outcome you hope for is unknown, it should be able to be done. Hence us pointing you to the 15-22 forum.

Ultimately the part you're looking for will end up on a 15-22 right? TDI Brad took it a step further and posted a link!

I don't have a 15-22, but I would bet it has a slimmer profile barrel. So finding a gas block that fits that barrel profile is going to be the challenge. You might find out that such a thing does not exist (just playing the devil's avocado), so you will have to find some type of spacer to fill in the extra space that the profile won't meet.

Someone has probably tried this or something very similar, but the knowledge base for the 15-22 is going to be 100x greater in the 15-22 forum. While a lot of add ons are the same between the rifle, most working specs are not, and guys looking for info on their mp15 probably are going to skip a post about a 15-22!

If I am coming off as rude, I'm sorry I am not trying to be. Just trying to enlighten you to go ahead and try this post out in the 15-22 forum.

Nope, was a long day and the baby didn't sleep well the night before so I think I may have just been a little bitch when I read your post. I'll investigate. Thank you for the tips!

New baby in the house, you are entitled to be anything you want. Welcome to parenthood!

Seriously welcome to parenthood...the fun begins..because I do not have a 15-22 I do not know what the barrel diameter is, but because some of the manufacturers make a pencil barrel you may be able to find one that fits.
Good luck with the baby!!!
