M&P15 picture thread

What kind of bayonet is that in your pic? I was thinking about getting one and an extender for this new rifle for ***** n' grins. Looked for some at a gun show this weekend but most were vintage Colt ones that they had priced VERY high.

It's a Smith & Wesson SW3B M9 Bayonett, I bought it directly off their website a few years ago during a sale.

The only problem is that it doesn't actually fit my M&P15X because it's a Carbine Length Gas System with a 16" Barrel, so I'd have to buy either a bayonet lug extender or a barrel sleave to get it to fit properly without rattling around.

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day to you too! Yeah, I looked at bayonets online and saw the need for an adapter for my rifle to get it to fit right. I just need to find the best one. I looked online at the S&W one you have. Found on on Amazon at a decent price. Looks like a good knife.

I was looking around online for an M&P15 Sport II to replace the one I had a few years back and sold, but found this M&P15 811000 new in box and grabbed it instead.

Good purchase, I've had one of those since 2008 and it's been exemplary in every way.

BTW, it's my understanding that the rifles with serial numbers below 50,000 were made for S&W by Stag.

Good luck with it.

Thanks! The serial number starts with ST88xxx, and I found out from S&W that it was built in December of 2013. Looks like it's well outside the first 50K made, so I assume it was done in house by S&W.

Honestly, I didn't realize that S&W got in to the AR game so late. I thought they'd made them for a long time, so it was a surprise to see that it wasn't all that long ago. I had never even heard of this version until I happened across it online. When I saw it was new and available, I grabbed it, credit card be damned. :D

Happy Veterans Day!
