M&P15 Tactical Model 811064

What drew me to purchase the "Tactical" was its 5R rifling, and I was just curious to find out if anyone knows if the SKU: 811064 model has the 5R like the 811041? Because if it does not I will return it and find a store where I can purchase the SKU 811041model.

Thanks

Yep...sounds like you got the same one I did. It is the 5R. Have fun with it! I'm a newbie and have already been bitten by the bug. :D The folks on this forum warned me.

the pictures posted above by people who bought the same rifle show it to have the 1:8 5R Melonite Barrel. When you get to look at it, look at the top of the barrel about 2" back from the muzzle and if it says 1:8 5R it is the same barrel. I am guessing it is and you will definately enjoy it.
Welcome to the forum and may I be the first to say "Nice Rifle"!

Thank You for the help, After I got it home I found the engraving on the barrel marked 1:8 5R. I am pretty stoked, just waiting on some furniture now ;-)

@ MADDMAX - I got an excellant price, Like the OP I got mine for $899 by getting the Store Credit card, Plus I will get an additional $30 to $60 of instore credit depending on how my Dick's Reward Card points are calculated, not to mention that through a special Black Friday offer that purchase will be interest free for 6 months. Believe me given the rates on that card I do not want ever ever ever use it again unless I can pay it off at the end of every month (26.9% IR), but I could not pass up the $100 off and 6 months to pay.

Now what to get with my in-store credit? :D

I did the same thing you did Kula, I know what I am using my store credit on. Ammo, ammo, and more ammo! The interest rate on that card is horrible, but the savings of $100 was worth it. That went to ammo, I liked the buy one get one half off. 2 boxes for $12 wasnt to bad.

Keep an eye on your scorecard points. I checked mine today and on my statement they took away all my points for the gun purchse, which is wrong. The fine print for the special financing reads: "Promotional Financing Purchases Do Not Earn Extra Credit Scorecard Points" which means you do not get the double points for using their credit card to make the purchase (the $60 I mentioned earlier) it does not in any way imply that one does not recieve "any" scorecard points (the $30 I mentioned earlier). So wish me luck in my fight with Dick's Customer Service. If you got the special financing you should fight for you points too. Of course this just leaves me to ponder over just how this sporting goods chain got its name? ;)

Read the fine print. Can't be used on guns or ammo (sucks). They do have some reasonable cases. I bought some reasonable add-ons. Careful though. Look close, some of their add-ons are not that great. Pipods are reasonable. Might use it on a scope. Just a heads up. They had a limit of six,buy one get one half off when I was there. I went in and out a couple times. Then a couple more later. Had to make the long trip worth it. ha ha.

Another trick up their sleeve. Check the expiration date on the instore credit. It's only good for so long. ...60-90 days ???

Same points deal here too. Got half the promice and they got lost in the mail ??? I'm still getting them (late) though. You Can get on their site and put your 2 cents worth in (rating your item). Pay back can be fun. :o

Good luck.

Sent an e-mail off to Dick's customer service right before my last post. They were suppose to get back to me within 2 days and I still haven't heard a peep from them, but I checked out my scorecard points online account today and low and behold my account was credited back the 900 points they took away. So that's $30 in-store credit. It's got to get used by January 29th or it's gone forever, that's just their policy that all points expire on 1/29 of every year. So if any of you that have them better use them soon.

Since you are close enough, drive to the other end of Wake County to the Wake County Range in Holly Springs. They will let you shoot up to .50 cal on their range. Used to go there quite a bit when I lived there.

I looked at that, but I think I'm going to check out Range 37. I still haven't shot this thing! But I've been dressing her up a bit :) I've added a Vortex Strikefire red/green dot with the 3x Primary Arms magnifier on a flip-to-side mount.

Picked up two of these today

I've been wanting to join the AR club for a while and settled on the S&W. I'd been looking for the M&P15T everywhere. People weren't kidding when they said gun sales picked up after the election. Fortunately, my boss and I each picked one up today at Dick's. Other than the 10rd magazine, it's exactly what I wanted and the $100 off and 10% off were a big incentive.

I've already got the bug, too. I ordered a Grip-Pod (LE) from Amazon the other day and am hoping to pick up an eotech or an aimpoint pro this weekend at the gun show. I'll post pics when it's all together.

FYI: There's still two (plus the display) at the Hanover, PA store and one in the Harrisburg, PA store (display) that they said has a few marks on it and would qualify for an additional discount.

I finally got to shoot mine today....man, it was fun. I think I got the MBUS sights tuned in fairly decent, but I think I still need to tune in the red dot some more. However, the primary objective of shooting it and having fun was accomplished!

Everyone enjoy theirs as well!

I was able to locate one at Dick's also, none of the local gun shops had any in stock - all on backorder - took her to the range today - all I can say is wow - looking forward to adding a few pieces!!

If you call Dicks in one state, would they ship it to your state?

You have to go to the store you want it at. They will call around and find one for you. Then you have to put all the money up front and then they will order it for you. That's how they work.

I got my in store credit from them Thursday. I was able to go in there today and use it on ammo. They price matched Big R on PMC to $7 a box. I bought 8 boxes and I walked out paying $6 out of pocket. I used the $10 coupon from there survey, and my $40 certificate. I was happy that the nice cashier used both for me.

Great deal. Nice cashier for doing that too.

The gun is a ct compliant gun it's a 15tf. I did the same thing. Fixed stock 10 rd mag, barrel is not threaded.
