M&P22 feedback??

I got rid of mine. I had no problems with it but I just never got the enjoyment out of it that everyone raves about here. I mean it shoots well but I'd just much rather be spending range time with my 9, 1911 or 380.

Just me I suppose...

I think I know what you mean. The .22 pistol is never going to deliver the thrilling feedback of say, an S&W 1006.

really like the M&P 22

I purchased this pistol after some bad experience with another brand which I will not name. I have a Shield in 40 and an M&P 40 paired with an M&P 15T in both 5.56 and 22. I have been extremely pleased with both of the 22's. I have fired a variety of brands, age and velocity 22 rounds through both with no problems at all. Cannot say enough good things about the M&P22!

I enjoy mine. I've noticed it likes hotter rounds, as do I. I polished the feed ramp and slide as well as some of the trigger surfaces to reduce failures, which has helped. While my rifle has been at S&W I've been able to play with it a bit more. Just completed a 14 round mag mod and have a different follower coming which I'll try 15+ while retaining the mag button so the slide lock will still activate. .

Its a fun pistol and cheap to shoot. I keep it very clean and try to feed it mid to top tier .22lr because my 15-22 was so picky, which should be better with an updated BCG.

4500 rounds and climbing.

Mine also likes the hotter rounds, when I first purchase mine I was very skeptical about it since is very different from any other .22 handgun that I had in the past. I have a lot of rounds through mine and have not had any real issues with it other that only one brand of ammo that the gun has not liked, my 15-22 also has been great as I also have a lot of rounds through with same results.

I love mine, although I am reluctant to shoot it much these days because .22 ammo of any kind has been nearly impossible to find for well over a year. When local stores in my small town do get it, the hoarders show up and buy it all in a matter of an hour or two. :(

One odd thing about the gun, is the dot less rear sight. I have no idea what they were thinking. Besides that, is a blast to shoot, and I have had zero issues compared to the jam-o-matic Walther P22 it replaced.

Thanks for the tip about polishing the feed ramp. I noticed that the feed ramp on mine is a little pitted and not as smooth as my 9mm pistols. Good suggestion!

Had ours a little over a year. Have run everything we can buy through it except for Norma which will use this weekend. Eyes are going so I installed the HiViz front sight and will give feedback after next range trip. Runs like a clock. Wife and kids enjoy shooting it as well. When they do the ammo math they appreciate the M&P even more.

Finally got to the range last night and two big "thumbs up" for HiViz front sight and Norma USA Tac22. Used the green pipe on the indoor range and it was perfect. Ran 50 rounds of Norma through with no malfunctions of any kind. Finally some folks, along with S&W, that actually deliver.

I am looking seriously at getting an M&P22 to go alone with my 15-22 and my 40. I figure I love the rest of the platforms in that line so far and I think a 22 pistol would be a great addition. Does anyone have one?? any feedback??

I have the M&P22 and the M&P15-22 MOE and Would never go back, my opinion best 22 set up.

I just passed 5,500 rounds through mine. I love this gun! It's a nice companion to my 9mm Pro, and a lot cheaper to throw lead down range.

As for ammo concerns, it is nearly 100% flawless with CCI ammo (mini mags, stingers, and blazer). I think I had one fail to feed one time. It's been about 98% with Federal bulk. I had three straight boxes of 550 with no failures, but the next batch with a different lot number has a couple fail to feed per 100 rounds shot. Winchester White Box has some kind of failure with every magazine. I just stopped shooting it and traded it away.. It was awful in this gun.

It's easy to break down and clean too! I clean the barrel and oil the inside of the slide at the wear points after every range trip.

That's crazy. I got one of the first ones that came out. Ordered 5 mags when I picked it up and had them with-in two weeks. Ordered 4 more late last Fall and had them in a few days. Have had zero issues with the MP-22 and it runs like a clock. I clean after every range trip, I stay away from "junk" ammo and (try) to stick to copper coated.

I never use Junk Ammo... like I said, never had one FTF at all in my 15-22 or other guns. And I have many different brands of 22LR, probably 4-5 ammo cans worth :P Even in my other guns I only use 1st production brass, no reloads, no steel casing (other than my AK pistol) This gun is more fickle than my Kriss Vector.

You're not alone, mine is a lemon of a pistol....but I love it and I'm not sending it back. It's the best malfunction trainer out there. Shoots like a pistol, is relatively accurate and absolutely sure to jam. Mine probably jams/malfunctions 1x per mag. And you gotta know I'm a hell of a lot more proficient at getting it back in the fight now than prior. I may sound crazy but she's a keeper , and I don't think I'm gonna send it in for warranty either.

It's not worth it to send it in, especially since I have a bunch of other stuff to use, but I FINALLY found 4 more mags, and just have mag dumped them to have as many cycles through it. And I am OCD on cleaning every firearm after every use. Only my Kriss Vector CRB and the MP22 FTF and stovepipe regularly, though the Kriss is getting better with more rounds through it.

It's so odd to hear the 15-22 having issues, I know earlier ones did, but everyone I know has 15-22 for plinking/training, and nobody has had any issues, and can mag dump all day long without cleaning it if they want, yet the MP22 rarely has a mag without SOMETHING not working. I will try to polish the feed ramps or send it to my smith to rework/check. My regular MP15 never had any issues, my other S&W revolvers work like swiss clocks... which is really what pisses me off. Same goes for all my springfield xd firearms and TRP operator full rail. Never one glitch in any of them, just the MP22 and occasionally the Vector...

I wouldn't buy an MP22 again. The MP15-22 I would buy 10 of, but the MP22 I have owned since September, and I have YET to find ONE 10rd magazine in stock or online anywhere. I have one 10 rd mag, that came with the gun, and nobody ever has them, and I have contacted Smith and Wesson, and they don't give ETAs even. What kind of BS that you get ONE mag with a gun, not even 2, and can't buy any more mags? Plus, I have ran 4 kinds of ammo through it, and it fails to feed properly at least 1-2 rounds per 10rd mag, which is garbage.

I have put bricks through my MP15-22, and not one hiccup ever. It's crazy my best 22 rifle is the 15-22, and my worst pistol ever is it's stablemate the MP22. even my old 22 revolver still works perfect that I have had since I was a kid.

Had a feed problem one time with mine. Cleaned the chamber very well. I thought what happened to mine was that the chamber was dirty enough to cause a drag on the extraction, if the casing expands. With the light recoil spring, any restriction will cause the slide to not go back far enough to pick up the next round= FTFeed.

Must say , my M&P22 is a great gun. Only problems I have had are from not cleaning well. Also, the mags run a little rough, Keep them clean and a little lube on the assist button.
