Hello,

I would like to get some recommendations for sights on my M&P45 full size. I will mainly be using this for target practice, some light IDPA and carry well in the woods. I currently use a shoulder holster but have a owb for IDPA.

I have this in mind: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BLQWZ7I/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1LSPGVOQRIDXQ&coliid=I1VEEIQHAPQZX7"]Amazon.com : Ameriglo S&W M&P Pro Idot Trtium Grn : Red Dot And Laser Sights : Sports & Outdoors@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41aPJTVFCvL.@@AMEPARAM@@41aPJTVFCvL[/ame] But I also was thinking a rear sight that is adjustable on both the windage and elevation would be nice.

Thank you for reading

Bryce

I would suggest to first decide if you really need night sights or not. The standard choices for night sights are Trijicon HD, Ameriglo or Truglo. If you want something really accurate for competition try Dawson Precision.

Your right I should have clarified more. I am looking for a sight that is quicker for target acquisition; I was thinking about going with a blacked out rear sight and a fiber optic on the front...but I am really not opposed to other ideas. I have a green fiber optic for my shotgun and that made a huge difference for shooting clays. I do care about competition but I want these to be versatile as well.

I use Trijicon HD's on my M&P 9mm and love them but I'm not a target shooter. I've had problems with them on my Sig P226 though because the don't shoot to POA. If you want FO I'd talk to Dawson they will change your sights for free if they don't shoot POA. You can also send in your slide and they will test fire for you. They also sell individual front rear combinations and different width front and rear sights.

I have checked out there site and may purchase my sights from them but I can do the work. It's good to know that I could send it in though! I recently put a Storm Lake 5.3" ported match grade barrel in the 45.

Thank you for the reply!

The reason to send in your slide and probably barrel too is because they will "sight in" the gun for you without you having to guesstimate the sight heights yourself :)

Maybe a stupid question but you send in just your slide or your entire gun??

My utility M&P 45 has a set of truglo tritium/fiber optic sights. These can be typically had for around $80, or less, and do well in any light condition. The fiber optic works good when out in the woods during the day and the tritium takes over from dusk to dawn.

Truglo TFX, Trijicon HD, Ameriglo IDOT.

My only issue with the Ameriglo sights is that they are some what prone to rust.
