M&P45: with or without safety?

I had been looking at the M&P 45 as a replacement for my carry gun, a Para Ord P13.45. I have been carrying it cocked and locked and felt that a DAO gun would be safer due to the simplicity and similarity to a revolver.
Well, the M&P series actually seem more like a cocked 1911 without the grip safety or thumb safety. Although there is no external hammer, the light trigger pull is actually lighter than my Para, with no thumb safety to shut the gun off.
Now I feel that my Para would actually be the safer alternative for me. Unless I find a good example of a 3rd generation DAO like the 4583. Those guns really do handle like a revolver.

The M&P45's safety is really nothing more than a psychological "crutch", added to make those that feel they need a safety feel more at ease with these pistols.

Now before anyone harps on me about what I just stated let me say this...I own one of these guns and after handling and shooting it for more than a year I wish I had not got the one with the safety now.

All the safety on these pistols does is block the trigger from being pulled, simple as that. The safety doesn't interact with the striker, sear or any other parts in the fire control system of these pistols.

AFAIK Glock never put an external safety on any of it's pistols and people have been buying, shooting and carrrying them for years with no outcry for an external safety to added to them.

Well I have not bought one yet but I plan to someday, when I do I will get the one with the safety. I don't think it is necessary but, because I carry and train with my 1911, I dont want to get in the habit of not automaticly flipping off a safety when I draw.

Well while there hasn't been an huge outcry for a thumb safety on a glock, there was enough of one for someone to come up with an aftermarket safety that can be installed.

M&P .45 no thumb safety or mag disconnect.

M&P 9C No thumb safety, does have the mag disconnect because that is all they had in stock & didn't want to wait.
