My daughter is in Illinois (now has a 15 round mag limit) and now needs to have 15 round mags instead of 17 round in her full size M&P 9. I told her to just sell her 9 and get a 40, and it's no longer an issue. :D

However....staying with the 9, I see various web sites offering them, claiming to be S&W originals, but they say they are aluminum. My mags that came with the gun are steel. S&W site offers 10 or 17, I don't see any 15's. Anyone know of any quality manufactures?

I took a look and all the 15 round mags I found were for the compacts, none for the full-size guns. Just out of curiosity, are the 17 round mags already in possession when the change took place grandfathered in? That law most likely will stipulate that no new 17 round mags may be purchased, sold, or transferred within the state. It might be worth checking out. Good luck.

She can keep her 17 rd mags. No need to get rid of them. Any future msg purchases will need to be 15rd mags unfortunately.

She can keep them, but she can't carry them in her carry firearm. Ownership is grandfathered, use is not.

I did a search a couple of years ago for 3D round limiters you put in spring base. Can't remember who but he made them for M&P mags. They were very reasonable and you can use present mag. I would epoxy them on spring.

I wonder if the 15 round mags listed on the S&W site and the mags with the same SKU listed on "grab a Gun" are the same quality as original 17 round S&W mags?? Anyone have these??

I don't have any of the full size 15-round magazines, but several well-known vendors (1, 2, 3) say they are aluminum rather than steel, which would seem to fit the difference in weights shown on S&W's website: 17-round = 4.848 oz. and 15-round = 4.24 oz.

I have one of these 15 round mags that I bought from"grab a gun" for my M&P 2.0 subcompact. Original factory mag that runs great no failures of any kind . It did take them 5 days to get into USPS hands to ship it . That was the only negative but they had the best price .

I ordered a couple of these from Grab A Gun, it took 11 days to get them. I don't know who makes them, but they came in a Smith & Wesson box and look identical to the originals other than 15 instead of 17 rounds.
