Currently a revolver guy (586-8 .357 Magnum) and looking to purchase a pistol and add some variety to my shooting experience. Would appreciate inputs on the M&P 9mm 2.0.

Thanks in advance for your valued inputs.

I have the 2.0 Compact. It's a fantastic pistol in my opinion. I'm a big fan of the aggressive grip texture which in my experience eases up after a while. I like the 3 dot sights. Some don't but I like the trigger. It has quite a bit of take up but it doesn't bother me.
It's always very comfortable to shoot as far as the recoil.
Very solidly made easy to field strip and clean. Overall a great Pistol.

I bought a FS 9mm VTAC with 4.25" barrel and love it. It is now my go to gun. Never had a single issue with it. The grip has a different feel due to the texture but after 2 trips to the range I prefer it to the 1.0 drip. Don't think you can go wrong with a 2.0.

Love my 5" barreled M&P9 m2.0. Feels better in my hands than any semi auto I've ever handled, though that is of course a subjective comment.

Grip texture is just right. All in all, like the trigger. Feels like a quality firearm.

First time out, shot 130 rds with one failure, a bad round. After a while I was shooting better with it than I normally do with my Ruger SR9Cs after years of experience and I still really like the Rugers. Doubt that you'll be disappointed. Don

My 2.0c is my new carry piece. I used to run with the PPA M2.

The 2.0c is absolutely GLORIOUS. Probably one of the easiest 9s I've shot, stays nice and flat with 124gr JHP and he grip texture is excellent.

Well OP, considering the track record of all the M&P line, I really can't see where you would be making a mistake in the purchase. They are a better mouse trap!

Have a little over 1000 rounds through my 2.0 compact 9, I love it and it is my edc. Although I'm one of the ones who find the grip texture a bit too aggressive. Now I have a Talon Grip, so that's not exactly an issue. Also I don't find the "improved" 2.0 trigger significantly better than the 1.0's that I've shot - and i can't discern its smoothing out as yet. It's ok though. Overall it's a great pistol.

I bought a new full sized M&P 2.0 in 9mm a few weeks ago. Because of work and weather, I've only got a little under 150 rds through it. Overall, GREAT gun, so far anyway!

I'm coming to the M&P line from Glocks. I've been using various Glocks at my Police Department job since not long after I started in 1991. All worked fairly well, but as I get older, I'm getting tired of fairly well and want very good, if not great. I've always LOVED the ergonomics of the M&P line and thought they fit my hand VERY well. However, the squishy, mushy, inconsistent triggers really turned me off. The Sheriff's Department in our County carried older M&Ps in .40 and, overall, they really like them and haven't had any real trouble with them. Also, I bought a 9mm Shield not long after they first came out and think it is a GREAT off duty gun, so I thought I'd give the full sized 2.0 a try.

For me, the M&P is very ergonomic and feels great in my hands. MUCH better than the Glocks, although I have adapted to Glocks over the years. I initially thought the grip texture would be a too much, but I've changed my opinion a little. After shooting it, I think the texture is pretty good. I may still tone it down a little so that it won't abrade expensive polyester duty shirts, but it works VERY well for keeping the gun anchored in your hand.

I really like the trigger. When I dry fired the counter gun at the gun store, it was REALLY smooth! When I got mine home, it was pretty gritty. However, after the live fire and some dry fire, it is smoothing up nicely and I honestly think it will end up as good as the counter gun at the gun store. Coming from Glocks, I really like the feel of the trigger, too. Light takeup, a well defined wall, a crisp break (for a poly framed gun, anyway), some minor overtravel, then an audible and tactile reset. Very Glock like, which works well for me with all my experience with Glocks.

Overall build quality is very good. The machining in the slide only shows just a very few, very minor tool marks on the bottom of the slide rails. No evident tool marks anywhere else and the machining seems very clean. The molding on the poly frame was also very clean with no obvious mold marks or flashing anywhere I could find.

Overall, I really like mine and think it is an outstanding gun. Provided mine proves reliable (since I don't have many rounds through it right now), it will replace my Glock 19 as my duty gun at my PD job. I think S&W did a very good job with the 2.0 upgrade and really hit it out of the park. There may be some guns with better individual features (although I've never shot one, the Walther PPQ is reputed to have a better trigger, for example), but for available accessories, the M&P only comes in second to the Glock. I had trouble finding basketweave duty holsters for most of the other choices, for example, so I chose the M&P. I think it was a good choice and it should serve me well for many years. Give the M&P 2.0 a try. I think you'll like it.

I've had my 2.0 compact for a few months now and it is excellent. Easily jumped into my three favorite striker fired handguns list.

Bub075 did a good job answering the OP's inquiry so I won't try to improve on his post as I overall agree with it. I do own the PPQ and it does have a better trigger than, well better than any striker fired handgun I've ever owned or tried. And I own a bunch of striker fired handguns and have others that I traded or sold.

The 2.0 series is excellent in my opinion.

Thanks for the responses

Many thanks for all of your valuable inputs!

I have fired my son's M&P .40 1.0, M&P Shield, and Beretta 9mm so I have some idea of what to expect. Dropped my NJ hand gun purchase permit application at the PS on Friday. Looking forward (in a few weeks) to picking up a new M&P 9 2.0 after all of the positive comments received. Will probably be sending some rounds through it the day of purchase - local store is also a range.
