I thought I figured out the problem but, now I am royally confused. Below is a picture of my sear housing block. In the manual it says that piece on the front of it is a magazine disconnect and will not allow it to fire with the magazine removed, well today at the ranged I tested it and it did fire. Also, on the side of the slide it says that pistol will fire with magazine removed.

I received my Apex RAM kit today and it didn't fit. I ordered the one without a magazine disconnect and obviously it didn't fit.

So, I guess my question is, do I not go off the manual and go off what it looks to be, because they are contradicting each other. I just want to order the right parts.

I must be missing something, and I need an outside perspective. I apologize a head of time for a stupid question. =D

Thank you

I'm looking at my M&P9c right now and I don't have that in mine. Mine is definitely a no mag disconnect gun. I am certainly no M&P expert so wait for them to comment.

I just watched another video and the guys gun had the little lever like mine but, the whole sear block housing was different. I am just baffled. lol

Thanks for the reply though. =D

Are you referring to the yellow lever? That's the sear disconnect, not magazine disconnect. If your slide says it will fire without the magazine, then you have no magazine safety.

I think you are right. I've checke a few other forums and people say SW changed their shb on the new models and neither of them will fit. I just wanted some more thought on the situation.

Jack, call APEX in the morning. They have phenomenal customer service. I know from installing parts on two guns.

I talked to them about an hour ago and they confirmed that the kit will not fit my gun. I emailed them, and less than two hours later, they called me. One of the best customer services I've seen in a long time.

They also stated that they are working on manufacturing the RAM, can't wait for it to come in.

Thanks for the info though. =D

So you ordered the wrong kit or they sent you the wrong one? And i agree on their CS, spoke to them and exchanged emails and they are top notch.

I ordered the right kit but, I guess SW changed the SHB in the newer models and neither kit will fit.

It seems APEX would write that on their website, only fits certain models manufactured before a certain. Who knows though.

I am very pleased with their customer service. I definitely will be going through them for my gun upgrades.

Ahhh gotcha.

Jack:

I think the guys at Apex are spending more time designing/testing/making product than worrying about the web site.

The RAM that was originally available needs the Hilary Lock hole (the lock has to be removed or never there in the first place), which thumb safety versions do not have. Since the thumb safety and Hilary Lock aren't essential, shipping a "no safety" version of the thumb safety block may have made sense to them. I think there are two parts included in the thumb safety version of the block that can be omitted and without the cutouts on the grip, you'd never know.... (Or they can ship 'em with those parts - a spring and cam that do nothing without the safety lever.)

The yellow thing is indeed the sear disconnect. It's designed to encourage you to pop out the magazine and use a tool to flip the lever outwards (as in your picture) rather than using the Glock style "pull the trigger" method of disassembly.

Apex has been trying to get a RAM kit out for thumb safety models, and I think that'd work in yours, too. It looks like your sear block is a tad different from the thumb safety version, but I'm not sure right now. The Hilary Lock version has a BIG hole in it (for the lock mechanism) and the original RAM just fit perfectly.

Regards,

Regards,

You are right, I have been doing some research on it. Putting in a different SHB with the hole in it would work, but since my gun has the safety cutouts in it, people have been saying it doesn't fit flush and you would have to grind parts of it.

I'm not too fond of grinding anything on my gun, so right now, I'll just wait for Apex to come out with the correct one to fit.

But thank you for the input, it is appreciated. =D

Just change the sear in the mean time. The Apex sear by itself should make a noticeable improvement while you wait...;)
