Hi. I have an M&P CORE 4.25" barrel and am looking to buy a MRDS to go with it. So far I like the Viper with its smaller footprint but I don't like 100% co-witnessing. I don't want however a sight with total exclusion of the iron sight from the red dot FOV. From what I have seen I like the Deltapoint sight arrangement and operation but they are a lot of $$$ for something I have not tried. I wish these mfg'ers would have a program were they would ship a sight for you to try with a $ deposit so you return it.

I have a RMR07 and have been happy with it, have fired about 500 rounds in both .40 and 9mm without problems, at least once I used the electrical tape trick (you have to put a piece of electrical tap under the battery otherwise it will turn on and off under recoil). As a near sighted person, it is nice being able to ring steel at 100 yards 90%+ of the time with a pistol.

I have the M&P 9mm CORE and just ordered the Vortex Venom red dot sight yesterday. From the reviews I have seen, is the best bang for your buck. The Deltapoint are just a lot of $$$. I can't wait to get it in, mounted and off to the range with it.

I have a Deltapoint 1 on my original core, I have over 100K rounds with no failures. Don't know about the DP Pro.

I have the Vortex Venom on my m&p 9L PC. It's awesome. It does allow for co-witnessing with the slightest of margins. The battery compartment is on top for the Venom, so you do not have to remove the red dot to change the battery. Unlike the Viper, the battery compartment is on the bottom and you must remove the red dot to change. A real hassle. I would highly recommend the Venom over the Viper for that reason alone. I've posted comments on the Venom, along with pictures of how well it has helped me to shoot located on this site: http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-pistols/488145-m-p-9l-pc-first-shots-review.html

I think the price point on the Vortex Venom is pretty good at today's prices. Overall I think the red dot prices are insanely high. It kind of reminds me of pharmaceutical companies. Right now China makes junk optics but the day will come......

Just to throw another idea into the mix, have you looked at Burris Fastfire III's? We have them on our CORE's. I don't remember which plate you use, but you use type B screws. They fit perfectly. They cost a heck of a lot less than other optics and they have a lifetime warranty, it does not matter if you are the original owner or the 7th owner of the optic. My husband bought his used and it was not holding a zero, we sent it in and they sent back a new one. Zero issues with it since then. On mine I torqued the screws too tight (no more than 12 inch pounds, I have now found 10 inch pounds to be good) and that was causing issues with it turning off while shooting. It was my fault, but they replaced it and sent it back quickly since I had a big match coming up. I have since put the correct tension on the screws and have had no issues with the optic at all. They are a lot less $$ than other optics at a cost of a little over $200.
