Will do. I ordered it yesterday, and according to their website, their holsters are "custom made for you within 26-41 days", so it'll be awhile before I can comment on it.

I don't have the clip on, but I do have that holster with the belt loop for my 2.0. I bought it for those times when I have to go to training or something for my PD job and am in the "casual" uniform of polo shirt and khakis.

Overall, I really like the holster. It uses the ALS system to secure the gun in the holster, just like my duty holster. It is secure and fast to draw. Just don't expect it to be really concealable. It is a fairly large holster, almost as large as Safariland's full up duty holsters, which it basically is, just with a slightly lower profile belt attachment. As long as you are using it for open carry and don't expect to actually conceal it, you should be OK.

Here are some pics of mine.

As you can see, it's not very concealable. It is, however, secure and fast. Just be aware of that and be prepared for a LONG wait. I ordered this and an ALS duty holster directly from Safariland, because the models for the M&P 2.0 weren't available from any of the reputable online retailers when I bought mine. This holster took about 3 weeks, the duty holster took almost 2 months. That's just how Safariland is, so be aware.

Forgot to add in the above post- an old timer's trick for Safariland's suede lined holsters to help break them in is to absolutely drench the suede liner with pure silicone spray lube. Spray it till the suede is soaked and the lube is running out, then let it set for a little while to soak into the suede. Then take a rag and wipe the excess out and let it set for a while longer. This helps the suede break in and makes the gun draw lightning fast. It also helps keep the suede from soaking up any moisture from humid air or if you get caught out in rain and helps keep the gun from corroding if left in the holster for a while. Without this treatment, it takes a long time for the suede to break in and the holster can be kinda "sticky" to draw from till the suede gets broken in.

I had the 6379 but the belt clip was hard to manipulate, I sent it back. I use the 6378 ALS paddle and have been very impressed with it.

I wore a Safariland 6378 open and concealed with my FNS-9, which is very similar in size to my new M&P9 M2.0.

In comparison, the Safariland 6379 fits closer to the body, and higher, so I'm confident that I'll be able to carry open and concealed with it. Unfortunately, I have to wait 26 to 41 days to find out!

ALS holsters are great. Never tried the belt clip, but if you don't like it they have multiple other mounting options you can try on the same holster.

Exactly. I DO like the holster. As you say, if the belt clip winds up being more of a hindrance than a help, then I'll simply swap out the attachment system.

Thanks for your input.

After much experimentation I decided about 10 years ago to just buy Galco CM holsters for carry. I haven't had cause to regret it but when it's time to replace them I may take a look at the ALS

As far as "breaking in" a Safariland I just put my gun in it, cranked the retentention all the way down and let it sit over the weekend. Then I loosened it up till it was snug but I could draw from it. Then when I was at work in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night I'd practice 4 point draws until the holster wore in. It took about a month but the 3 times I had to draw I didn't have any problems

I hear ya, Smoke. Personally, I prefer "no/low maintenance" options when it comes to gun gear, so the Safariland holsters float my boat. NO, they are not the cheapest, and they DO take a while to get into your hands, but the ALS, holster quality and suede inner lining are worth it!

The Safariland 6378 ALS that I had for my FNS-9 makes a compelling argument for a worthy OWB holster.

Never found a OWB that concealed as well as a couple IWB . But I have safariland 586 I do use in the woods for a DW 357mag .

I also have a couple Safariland 27 holsters I use with a lw commander and a with a M&P 4.25 40sw . Works well .

Yeah, it's the nature of the beast; an IWB WILL hide better than an OWB because it's going under shirt AND pants.

I just don't feel comfortable with IWB.

It's a personal thing; that's why there's so many options. We are a fickle lot, aren't we?

I have been reading up on OWB holsters hard for the last month and I ran across this thread last night. Safariland was on the shorlist that I had in mind. Just a few weeks ago I was at a local shop and remembered that they had a huge Safariland display, but time had the best of me and I didn't get a chance to look. So today on a whim I make the 30 min drive there and was looking at all the models and I'll be dam if they didn't have a 6378 Paddle holster. Salesman pulls out a 9cM2.0 and as soon as I heard it click into the holster I was sold.

This thing is smooth at silk coming out and going back into the holster, the ALS system works great. The paddle was a pain in the *** to put on at first and just took some time to figure it out. I plan on wearing this in the paddle configuration for several days and then switch it over to the belt loop that it came with. l bought this for the intention of wearing in the woods and while catfishing, so I am not too worried about concealed carry.

Well, after much consternation, I finally pulled the trigger on a Safariland 6379 ALS Clip-on Belt Holster for my new M&P9 M2.0 pistol.

Here's a link:
Model 6379 ALS(R) Concealment Clip-On Belt Holster - The Safariland Group

Does anyone have, and use, one?

Thanks, guys.
I have one for almost every pistol I own. Secure, rides and fits well, they're great for the range, detective carry or when other open carry is appropriate. It's not much of a concealment holster, though.
Be sure to practice releasing the ALS feature so it doesn't bind when you're under stress.

I think you're going to like your 6378 ALS holster; I had one for my FNS-9.

The paddle is somewhat limited with regard to mounting location, but with the included belt attachment, you should be very satisfied with your purchase.

Good luck!

Thanks,

I have installed the belt loop attachment and it makes a world of difference over the paddle attachment.
