I just bought one of these and a JPoint 4moa RMR.

If you have a M&P CORE, what sight are you using, what mods have you done and how do you like the pistol?

You're probably asking about "Optics Ready" sights, but I'm just running Dawson Precision irons (fiber front/all black rear). Love them...but must admit I've been Jonseing a Vortex Viper. Otherwise, did an Apex Competition kit, and that's it. I really like the gun, and have a long way to go before I am as good as it is. Recoil with my 135gr loads is so soft (probably should check PF...)

I got mine setup with a Burris FastFire 3. Looks cool as hell, but I haven't had the time to shoot with it yet. Without the sight, I have some tall iron sights that make it very easy to get on and stay on target. I'm loving this pistol.

FF3 here also. I shoot it in local steel and 3-gun matchs. Only mod is an extended mag release. No problems so far. BTW, mine is the ported version.

Extended mag release? I might have to try that. Where did you get yours and is it a hard replacement? I don't shoot competitively, but I like to have a nice shooting pistol.

My 9mm core
Stock iron sights
Fast fire 3
Apex gunsmith barrel
It's my carry, Apex trigger job is next.
I really like it.

I have the performance center 9 I use for USPSA open class it has all the bells and whistles.

I'm using the Trijicon RM06 Apex FF, like it a lot.

Using The Jpoint circle dot on my Shield, it works like a champ also.

Have a FF3 and the Apek Forward set trigger kit installed. I am really enjoyimg it.

I’ve got an M&P 9L made in 2009 and also an M&P 9L CORE (with J Point optic) made in 2013. I’ve practiced a bit with the CORE/J-Point but I’m inconsistent bringing the pistol up from a draw or low ready and seeing the red dot. So it seems like I’m wasting time trying to find the red dot but once I’m on it it’s great for nailing the target. I’m a lot more confident with the iron sights on the older M&P 9L so I’m reverting to it in matches. I like the M&P and J Point combination but it’s going to take some getting used to in order to get the first shot off quickly.

This is how I do it. From low ready and the dot off, practice bring up the gun and lining up the sights. Do this for a few minutes. Now turn on the dot and repeat. It made a difference in acquiring the dot the first time I tried it. Hope it helps you too. By doing this with the dot off, your building muscle memory.

Coincidentally, what you are describing is how I've been practicing. I've had some success using the technique you describe from the low ready position. Presenting the pistol from the holster and getting it up to see the dot quickly is taking a lot more work.
Thanks!

Another suggestion. Practice from draw to low ready, then from low ready to presentation. Then put it all together. By breaking it up, you concentrate on each part separately and can refine your technique. Kinda what weight lifters do. Good luck.

Got the CORE, jpoint and trigger. Sighted-in at the range for an hour and shot 100 rounds of 115 FMJ. I'm hitting bullseyes but not especially tight groups. I'm thinking the trigger needs a lighter pull, so I ordered the Apex fully machined sear and ultimate striker block.

This is a fun pistol to shoot!

I read that the factory spring with the Apex FF trigger kit will lighten the trigger. There is a YouTube video with trigger pull results.

I haven't changed any springs, only the trigger (and did some polishing.) I will install the sear and striker block only. I'm advised these upgrades will give me about 4- 4.5# pull, which is what I want.
