M&P9 pro series questions.

I just bought a new M&P9 pro series and had a few questions. The first thing I noticed that was different from my M&P22 is the trigger,the trigger is extremely gritty much grittier than any other gun I have handled almost like the trigger slide is rubbing on something inside the gun. The second thing I noticed is there seams to be a lot of play at the barrel end of the gun when the gun is in a fire position, if I hold the barrel end of the gun in my hand and squeeze the barrel and the frame together it moves up and down about 3/16 of an inch or so the M&P22 has no movement. The other thing I noticed is the gap between the slide and the frame I'd guess there is close to 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch in between the two, you can easily see light through the gun and there again the 22 is tight. The gun is brand new never shot it just seems odd or should I not worry?
One note when I move the slide back just a bit the gritty ness in the trigger goes away.

Quality Issues?

I purchased a M&P CORE Pro 9mm and it is perfect... no issues like you describe... send it to S&W or have a gunsmith check it out... My trigger is very clean, easy pull ...best pistol I own... added the Trijicon red dot and the Rail light/laser ... now if we could only buy 9mm ammo at a fair price...

Need advice on how to best zero EOtech MRDS on M&P9 Core Pro

Gentlemen,

I just bought the M&P PRO and used the 1/2 off coupon for EOtech's MRDS 3.5MOA. I'll admit I'm a newbie to red dots on pistols. I've never zeroed a red dot on a pistol. Rifles no problem. I just wanted to hear some input on how everyone else zeroed there red dot sights on their pistols. I'm going to co-witness it with the 3-dot sights but at the range I'm not sure what distance to start at. Maybe 25 yards? Also, what's the best way to rest a pistol on a platform for a steady shot? What techniques have worked for you? Any advice/tips would greatly be appreciative. I'm trying to use this for 3-gun matches.

I've owned an M&P9 Pro for 2 years and find the trigger to be excellent, though not in the same category as my Clark accurized 1911's. I did add an APEX RAM and that help the trigger reset. A good cleaning and range time should help.

You can put an APEX USB in your Pro, or you can just do what I do: Clean out the gun thoroughly with CRC silicone, lube per factory manual, and shoot it. My Pros are smooth and a touch above 4#.

The Pro series is supposed to have the good trigger. I've only held a couple, but those were great. I would contact S&W first. They should fix it up for you.

Can't speak to the barrel movement. I'd have to see it.

25 yards is too far for a pistol based on your intended use. 15 yards is a long shot. I would zero it at 10 yards.

Most of the big 3-gun matches I go to like to make you shoot 4-5" plates, out to about 30 yards, usually after being pounded with a shotgun.
I have my open pistols sighted in for 25 yards, but, have shot groups with them from 5 yards, to 100 yards, so I KNOW where it is shooting.
