I already have both the 9 & the 40cal Shields, with APEX Triggers and TruGlo sights. And I have a M&P9 PRO SERIES 5" coming in this week. Does anyone know how the Pro Series trigger will compare to the APEX? Thanks in advance!

From what I've read, there are no differences in the trigger parts between a Pro Series pistol and a standard gun, except the sear.

Here's an article from Hilton Yam:

M&P Production Updates: The Sear | Modern Service Weapons

"The original M&P sear was a MIM part, and actually worked pretty well and was even able to accept hand work to hold a trigger job. A common issue with them was that the striker engagement surface often had some minor molding artifacts which affected the trigger pull. This would typically wear in after some use, or could be stoned smooth during a trigger job. The S&W Performance Center introduced their own machined sear which they used in their custom guns and trigger work, and the machined steel surfaces provided an excellent canvas for further refinement."

I do believe the Pro Series also gets a bit more attention at the Performance Center.

Somebody please correct me, I've been curious what parts are different in a Pro series.

I was looking at both versions of the Pro- 4.25 & 5" guns. I found a great deal on a standard full size, used but unfired, put the Apex Duty/Carry kit in it. To my finger the Apex feels superior to either of the Pros I tried at the dealer.

Apex parts are worth the money even on the Pro's. We have 2 5" Pros and a 5" c.o.r.e. After shooting them some stock we put the FSS kits in all our Pro's. Love the difference!

No comparison between the APEX and the Pro series trigger. I thought my Pro was nicer than my 9c and put the APEX in the 9c, Wow! I then had Doug at ATEi do a trigger job on the Pro, now I'm happy with both.

I've had several of each including a pro that the previous owner felt the need to put the full blown Apex DAK kit in. Generally speaking, My pro triggers seemed lighter than the apex but maybe just a touch less crisp. I'd say the pro trigger is "different" than the apex but certainly not something you'll be dying to change. You should be very happy with the trigger and the gun. Comparing the 5" pro to the shield is like comparing a Cadillac with a Corolla.

Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts!
I picked up my M&P9 Pro Series this morning, cleaned it, looked it over, and dry fired it a few times, comparing it with my Apex Shields. I'll take it to the range tomorrow and see how it does.
During dry firing comparison, I did like the feel of the Apex trigger better and will probably (depending on its range performance) be installing that next week.
Thanks again!

I installed the Apex on my 9 PRO, and another on my new M&P 45. They work great and I'd highly recommend them!

I recently sold my Pro 9. Even after 500 rounds through the Pro, I preferred the Apex DCAEK trigger in my M&P Compact.

For those wondering, I sold the Pro because it didn't feel good in my hand no matter the backstrap. I really wanted to like it but I much preferred shooting my compact and shield. And yes, the shield also has the Apex DCAEK. :)
