My LGS has a special on the M&P 9C and full size. The issue is I've read about the bad triggers in the current M&Ps and the fact that S&W is in the process of putting in the Shield triggers into all new M&Ps starting with the M&P 45C and eventually putting them into the 9C. Can the trigger in the older M&Ps be swapped out for a new trigger which will be installed in the new M&Ps or should I just bite the bullet and put in an Apex system?

Depending on the sale price...can off set the cost of an new Apex trigger. I would ask to handle the pistol and see how the trigger feels.

You will end up with Apex anyway... Just get it. The new shield trigger isn't all that! A lot of shield owners already have gone apex over factory because Apex is just that good. M&P is a great firearm, with Apex in it, M&P is an Excellent firearm!

S&W M&P FS 9/357/40/45, 40PRO, 40C, 22LR

I am happy with my M&PC with the factory trigger.

That being said, I am open to trying the Apex trigger to make it an even better pistol.

My Shield trigger seems worse than the factory triggers on all three of the 9Cs I've owned. Apex is the way to go.

I have the Shield 9 and the 9c, both having ATEi trigger work and sear .. 4lb pull and smooth action. Chris Costa sends all of his M&Ps to ATEi. That should say something ;)

My first and only M&P is a 9mm Shield. I put five hundred rounds downrange and then bought, and installed myself, just the Apex hard Sear. Trigger pull went from about 8# down to 5-3/4#. Just perfect for me. A very simple 15 minute install complete with Youtube videos to help. No new springs and no rear sight removal needed.

I have the 9c. Nov 2011 production. The trigger is fine. A little gritty but not bad. I've only recently gotten up to the 1k round mark and as I haven't noticed much improvement I plan to just polish it up one of these days. I have the no thumb safety model and it's sole purpose is CCW and home defense so a non target/precision trigger is fine with me.
When I get around to getting a FS I'll spring for the Apex stuff.
