I know this forum is for S&W knives. But being a member maybe someone can tell me whether this scabbard is a reproduction or the real deal. This combo came with a Remington 1903a3 that was never issued. Rifle is correct being dated 1943. Obviously the bayonet is for the 1903 Springfield but my concern is on the scabbard. I've searched high and low on the internet for information regarding the scabbard. I'm certain the bayonet is original. Or maybe someone can point me in the right direction as to where to get solid info on the scabbard. Check out the pics and let me know what you all think. Thanks for any help and Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!

Some look similiar but not the same stiching. Brophy's 1903 Springfield eludes to a aluminum insert inside the scabbard housing which this has. If there were no reproductions made with the aluminum insert then this should be original.

I am no expert on bayonets, but that scabbard looks pretty fresh compared to the bayonet. Usually the canvas has shrunk over the years, and no longer goes all the way up to the throat of the insert.

Those scabbards have not been used in almost a hundred years, and the one you have looks like it was just made yesterday.

I have to agree with you Speedgunner. I'm sure the bayonet is correct. But the scabbard is in too good of condition. I called an aftermarket supplier of these scabbards; and he says they reproduce them just as they were years ago.

The scabbard of the original M1910 I owned 40 years ago looked considerably older than this example--the canvas covering on it was stretched tight as a drum.
