I just placed an S&W M1917 Brazilain on Layaway.

It's been reparked and wears Pachmeyers.

Lock up is tight and the parkerized finish is grey and looks to be professionally done.

S/N is 1898XX.

Is there any way to determine where it falls in the contract (First, Last or Middle).

I did a search on the brazillian models and read as man as I could and was able to determine that the lowest number amongst the forum members was 111XXX.

Any Idea what the highest Numbe was?

Thanks for yur help and I will post pics when I pick the gun up.

yours would be in the second batch of 1938, as per SCS&W3. serial range 181983 to 207043. and i believe, a picture will be required along with a range report. i picked up moon clips and a demooner at Dillon's by the way. you will want a demooner, life is easier with it

Thanks azmick.

I'll post a range report and pics as soon as I pick it up.

I have spent a freight train full of money on guns/Christmas here in the last 4 weeks and I need to slow down.

But as a general rule I will not let a $400.00 N frame (pre or post war) slide. So when I run across one I have to buy it, it's the rule

I appreciate your help and again as soon as I pick it up I'll post pics.

Lot's of us (I think) want to know how it shoots for you! Here's my project today while my 1917 Brazillian hammer and trigger are getting a makeover. I played with making demooners. This one turned out the best as my soldering skills are a bit rusty. I finally got the hang of it. Regards, ~Chef

Chef, how well does your handmade de m ooner work?

if I may ask, what are you having done to your hammer and trigger.

I would suspect re case hardening, if this is the case, who are you have do the work?

regards.

ATC, George Roghaar is doing the rework, the demooner has yet to be tested, I may end up cutting the notch deeper but it looks like it will work okay. Same concept I've read on this forum about making your own, just with a little more heft. I'll let you know how it works when I get the clips and ammo together. Regards, Chef
